Gold price today May 26: As soon as it opened, SJC gold bars dropped by a million dong

On the morning of May 26, the price of SJC gold bars was listed by businesses such as SJC, DOJI , PNJ, and Bao Tin Minh Chau at 117 million VND/tael for buying and 120 million VND/tael for selling, down 1 million VND/tael compared to the weekend.

Similarly, the price of 99.99 gold rings and jewelry gold also decreased to around 112 million VND/tael (buy) and 115 million VND/tael (sell), down 1 million VND per tael compared to the end of yesterday.

Thus, domestic gold prices fell quite sharply right at the opening of the new week.

The difference between the buying and selling prices of SJC gold bars and gold rings has widened to VND3 million/tael. At the same time, the price of gold rings is still VND5 million/tael lower than that of SJC gold bars.

Gold prices in the domestic market today fell following the decline in world prices. In the international market, the precious metal at 8:45 am, Vietnam time, was traded at 3,345 USD/ounce, down about 14 USD/ounce compared to the closing price at the end of last week.

This development is also contrary to the forecast of both experts and investors, when many opinions said that the precious metal would continue the strong breakthrough of last week. Gold prices cooled down after the news that US President Donald Trump announced that he would postpone the deadline for imposing a 50% tax on EU goods from June 1 to July 9 to create conditions for negotiations.

Previously, the news that Mr. Trump announced a 50% import tax on the European Union (EU), starting from June 1, 2.5 times higher than the reciprocal tax that the US imposed on the EU, made investors worried about tariff tensions, looking to gold as a safe investment channel. Therefore, the price of gold jumped in the last session of the week.

Currently, the world gold price converted according to the listed exchange rate is about 105.4 million VND/tael.
