Vinh Thuan is aggressively clearing land to hand over 100% of the land for the North-South expressway project.

The households whose land was forcibly handed over on March 20th included Mr. NVH's household (4,952m2), Mr. LVT's household (4,011.97m2), and Mr. LVT's household (4,595.60m2) - all located in Cai Nhum hamlet, Phong Dong commune, Vinh Thuan district.

Thus, according to the first phase of the 2024 enforcement plan, Vinh Thuan district has 10 households subject to enforcement. Four households have voluntarily handed over the land, three households were subject to enforcement on March 19th (area of 8,600m2), and three households were subject to enforcement on March 20th (area of 13,558m2).

According to Mr. Du, there are currently 10 households with 8 houses on residential land (two households in Vinh Phong commune and 8 households in Phong Dong commune) that have not yet handed over the land.

Of these, one household has received compensation but has not yet handed over the land, another household has received partial compensation for the main portion but has not yet received the supplementary compensation. The remaining eight households have not agreed to accept compensation as stipulated.

"In the near future, the working group of Vinh Thuan district will continue to coordinate with relevant departments and leaders of hamlets and communes with households affected by land clearance to develop appropriate compensation plans for each household, carefully considering the rights of the people."

"At the same time, we will focus on raising awareness and encouraging people to voluntarily comply with the law. Accordingly, we will handle the situation appropriately and quickly, avoiding delays, and promptly hand over the land to the construction unit as required," Mr. Du affirmed.

The North-South Expressway (eastern section) from Can Tho to Ca Mau is divided into two component projects.

The Can Tho - Hau Giang section of the project is over 37km long. The total investment is over 10,370 billion VND.

The Hau Giang - Ca Mau section of the project spans over 73km, passing through the provinces of Hau Giang, Bac Lieu, Kien Giang , and Ca Mau. The total investment is over 17,152 billion VND.

In the initial phase, the two expressways were constructed with four lanes and a roadbed width of 17m. In the completed phase, the roadbed width of the two expressways will be increased to 24.75m, with a design speed of 100km/h.
