The digital economy is becoming one of the important growth drivers of the economy, contributing to promoting labor productivity, innovating the growth model and improving the adaptability of enterprises in the context of global fluctuations. Digital infrastructure creates the foundation for development

After the merger, Phu Tho province will form a space for science, technology and digital transformation development on a larger scale, with expanded infrastructure and resources, and increasingly synchronized connection systems. This is an opportunity to form centers for technology, digital industry, and digital economy .

In recent times, the upgrading, development and completion of infrastructure from telecommunications to data platforms have created conditions for building a digital economy. The province has deployed a synchronous telecommunications system in accordance with the planning, with more than 10,200 BTS stations covering 3G and 4G, reaching 99% of the area. In central urban areas and key tourist areas, 170 5G broadcasting stations have been put into operation, creating conditions for people and businesses to access high-speed Internet services.

On the basis of telecommunications and information technology infrastructure, information systems have been deployed for interconnection, specialized databases have been invested in and put into use and have proven effective. This is an important step to help improve utilities, support businesses and people to participate more deeply in digital economic activities. Currently, technology and telecommunications companies are building an ecosystem of products to promote digital economic development in various fields; providing support solutions for small and medium enterprises to carry out comprehensive digital transformation.

Along with telecommunications, the digital payment sector has also developed strongly. 100% of public administration, medical facilities, education , and supermarkets in the area have used cashless transactions; nearly 100% of tax payment transactions are made through bank accounts. Banks and credit institutions have actively implemented programs to exempt and reduce payment service fees, salary payment fees via accounts, transaction fees on electronic banking channels for customers registering for online payments, and cashless payment fees via digital banking applications. Many diverse forms of electronic payment transactions are deployed by banks and credit institutions, including digital payment accounts, credit cards, debit cards, e-wallets, prepaid cards, Internet Banking, etc. The average growth in the number of cashless payment transactions via banks in the period 2022-2025 is 33%/year.

Digital economy spreads across sectors

In the province, the information technology industry is gradually becoming a foundation industry to promote the digital economy. Currently, the total export value of digital industrial products is estimated at more than 6.7 billion USD/year. The whole province has nearly 600 enterprises operating in the fields of electronic component manufacturing, software development, digital content and technology solutions. The presence of many enterprises with technological capacity and large investment scale has contributed to increasing the value of industrial production and gradually forming a digital industrial platform in the province.

Not only technology enterprises, but also enterprises in other fields have actively implemented the application of digital platforms in production and business activities such as electronic invoice platforms, enterprise management platforms, online sales platforms, etc., contributing to improving the efficiency of production and business activities, enhancing competitiveness and labor productivity.

In agriculture, many typical products of the province are attached with traceability stamps, applying digital platforms to promote and sell online, helping to enhance value and brand. In trade, services and tourism, the application of product identification technology through barcodes, online shopping, and electronic payments has gradually become a habit of consumers, contributing to increasing competitiveness, while forming new habits in economic transactions.

In the coming time, with the synchronous implementation of solutions, increased investment, improvement of science and technology infrastructure, innovation and digital transformation; strongly promoting digital transformation in the business community associated with the development of high-quality human resources... will create an important shift in the development of the province's digital economy. This is also the basis for Phu Tho to successfully implement the goal that by 2030, the scale of the digital economy will reach at least 30% of GRDP or more, affirming the important role of the digital economy in socio-economic development.
