According to the report of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the Ngoc Linh ginseng development program in Da Nang has initially formed an ecosystem for planting, caring, preserving and processing on a regional scale, based on the long-standing tradition of the old Nam Tra My area.
The recent rearrangement of administrative boundaries has created conditions for Da Nang to position itself in a new strategy, aiming to become a center for research, production and commercialization of Ngoc Linh ginseng domestically and internationally.

The total planned area for ginseng development and conservation in the area is more than 15,500 hectares, concentrated in the communes of Tra Linh, Tra Leng, Tra Tap and Nam Tra My.
Currently, there are 18 organizations, enterprises and 41 household groups participating in ginseng cultivation with an area of over 825 hectares, equivalent to about 1.27 million plants of various ages. To date, 1 household group and 6 enterprises have been granted a Certificate of right to use the geographical indication "Ngoc Linh", with more than 66,300 plants of confirmed origin.
The city maintains more than 281,000 conservation seedlings, supplying about 120,000 seedlings to the market each year.
In parallel with the development of Ngoc Linh ginseng, Da Nang has expanded the cultivation of indigenous medicinal herbs of economic value such as cinnamon, codonopsis, gymnema sylvestre, morinda officinalis, and polyscias fruticosa... with a total area of more than 7,300 hectares.
In the 2018 - 2025 period, medicinal plant development programs mobilized more than 48.8 billion VND, contributing to creating a value chain from cultivation, processing to eco-tourism - medicinal plants, helping people in mountainous areas have stable livelihoods, reducing dependence on natural forest exploitation.

Currently, the whole region has 5 facilities processing products from Ngoc Linh ginseng and medicinal herbs. Some businesses have initially invested in producing functional foods and cosmetics from ginseng, but the output is still limited. It is necessary to expand the growing area and attract businesses for deep processing.
Da Nang is calling for investment in the Nam Thang Binh Eco-Industrial Park (649 hectares) to form a national-scale medicinal research - processing - trade complex; in which THACO plans to develop a 1,250-hectare growing area.
At the meeting, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Ho Quang Buu emphasized that it is necessary to identify Ngoc Linh ginseng as a special economic sector with the ability to build a national brand; requesting departments and branches to urgently complete the mechanism of renting forest environment, standardizing varieties, strengthening quality control and preventing fake ginseng.
At the same time, the Department of Science and Technology was assigned to build the brand "Da Nang Ngoc Linh Ginseng"; the education sector integrated ginseng learning content into extracurricular activities; the health sector developed a plan to train human resources for medicinal herbs.
Relevant units complete detailed implementation plans and send them to the Department of Health before November 24 for synthesis, reporting to the City People's Committee and serving work with the Government according to related decisions.
