Collective economy in Quang Nam and steady progress in quality

Sustainable Development

One of the outstanding results reported by the leaders of the Quang Nam Province Cooperative Union summarizing the patriotic emulation movement for the period 2020 - 2025 is that the whole province has 136/386 cooperatives and cooperative groups with products registered for the OCOP program, with 179 products participating in the evaluation achieving 3 - 4 stars. Notably, many new models and effective methods have appeared and succeeded, creating the brand and position of cooperatives.

In Duy Xuyen district, Duy Oanh Green Agriculture Cooperative is a typical example of building and developing OCOP products. Persistently pursuing the goal of linking sustainable agricultural production, Duy Oanh Green Agriculture Cooperative has made strong progress and achieved many excellent results.

The cooperative has 2 products achieving 4-star OCOP, recognized as typical rural industrial products at the provincial level. In 2024, Duy Oanh cereal products will be in the top 100 typical products of the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance...

According to Mr. Le Ngoc Trung - Chairman of the Quang Nam Province Cooperative Union, cooperatives in the province are increasingly proactive in adapting to market mechanisms, being autonomous in organizing activities and making practical contributions to the province's socio-economic development. Notably, the program of building new rural areas (NTM), building civilized urban areas, restructuring the agricultural sector, the OCOP program...

In the past 5 years, the number of newly established cooperatives in Quang Nam increased by 111% (an increase of 312 cooperatives). In 2024 alone, the Quang Nam Cooperative Union advised on the establishment of 43 new cooperatives. To date, the province has 667 cooperatives and 1 cooperative union operating in various fields. In 132 communes recognized as meeting NTM standards (40 advanced NTM communes and 8 model NTM communes), there are cooperatives participating in the NTM construction program in the communes.

Develop strengths

Mr. Le Ngoc Trung said that recently, the emulation movements "Innovation, development and improvement of operational efficiency of cooperatives and cooperative unions" and "Pioneering cooperatives in hunger eradication and poverty reduction - building new rural areas" have been actively responded to, becoming regular goals and activities in units that have promoted production, business and services of cooperatives.

In 2024, the Provincial Cooperative Union has implemented and exceeded the set targets and tasks such as consulting on the establishment of new cooperative groups and cooperatives; converting the operating model of the Cooperative Fund; information and propaganda; training and fostering; trade promotion; supporting policy mechanisms for cooperative groups and cooperatives... Those results have contributed to the successful implementation of political tasks assigned by the Provincial Party Committee, Provincial People's Committee and Vietnam Cooperative Union.

With the advice and guidance of the Provincial Cooperative Union and district-level agencies, in 2024, cooperatives accessed policy mechanisms in the spirit of Resolution No. 25 of the Provincial People's Council with a total amount of about 1.2 billion VND.

From January 1, 2024, the Provincial Cooperative Development Support Fund will operate as a 100% state-owned single-member limited liability company. In 2024, the fund will disburse a total of VND 48.6 billion to 111 loan units. The outstanding loan balance as of December 31, 2024 is VND 113.4/121 billion (accounting for 93.7% of the charter capital).

Mr. Dinh Hong Thai - Vice President of Vietnam Cooperative Alliance said that Quang Nam's collective economy has its strengths, especially the attention it receives from provincial leaders, departments, and localities. Evidence is the Provincial Cooperative Development Support Fund established with a charter capital of 120 billion VND, among the top provinces and cities nationwide, and leading the Central Highlands region.

In addition, the People's Council - People's Committee issued resolutions and decisions on supporting the development of collective economy and cooperatives with resources of more than 150 billion VND/5 years. Notable policies are on supporting infrastructure, attracting qualified people to work in cooperatives...

According to Mr. Thai, the period of 2025 - 2030 is identified as an important period, the beginning of the country's rise. Therefore, the Quang Nam Provincial Cooperative Alliance and its member units need to pay attention to encouraging innovation, applying information technology in management and production, improving the quality of cooperative products, especially digital transformation in production, business and management of cooperatives, cooperative groups and enterprises. At the same time, promote linkages between cooperatives and enterprises to create sustainable value chains, enhance competitiveness in the market...
