Krong No explains why people are waiting for support due to riverbank erosion

On May 5, the People's Committee of Krong No district said that it had received feedback related to the article "Assets floating down the river, many people in Dak Nong are waiting for support", published in Dak Nong Newspaper.

According to local authorities, the compensation for landslides along the Krong No River and in Duc Xuyen commune has been issued many documents by the People's Committee of Krong No district to report to the Provincial People's Committee and the Department of Natural Resources and Environment (now the Department of Agriculture and Environment) for consideration and guidance.

Regarding the landslide areas in Duc Xuyen commune, through the inspection results, this is an area that has been licensed by the Provincial People's Committee for sand mining. However, the mining unit has not yet carried out mining activities, and at the same time, the Provincial People's Committee has put the area into a prohibited area, temporarily banning sand mining activities due to landslides according to regulations.

During the process of meeting voters with National Assembly Deputies, the representative of the District People's Committee reported on the problems related to compensation and support for the above-mentioned landslide areas. After that, the National Assembly Delegation of Dak Nong province compiled the recommendations to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (now the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment ) for consideration and resolution.

On August 9, 2024, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment issued Official Dispatch No. 5342/BTNMT-PC to respond to voters' opinions of Dak Nong province, including cases eligible for compensation and support according to regulations in Article 7 of Decree 88/2024/ND-CP.

Through studying the guidance and response of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, only cases of residential land at risk of landslides, subsidence and other land affected by landslides, subsidence, or other natural disasters will be considered for land recovery, compensation, and support.

However, the specific nature of landslides along the Krong No River in general and the section passing through Duc Xuyen commune in particular includes many causes (impacts caused by human activities, nature, etc.), so it is not yet eligible to apply for land recovery and compensation according to the guidance of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.

To continue to resolve and handle difficult and complicated issues in land issues (including the content related to compensation and support for the above-mentioned landslide areas as reflected by Dak Nong Newspaper), Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee issued Document No. 6218/UBND-NNTNMT dated October 24, 2024 asking for opinions from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.

At the same time, the People's Committee of Krong No district continues to report and make recommendations to the National Assembly Delegation of Dak Nong province for consideration and synthesis, and continues to make recommendations to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment for consideration and guidance on specific solutions for landslides along the Krong No river through Krong No district.

However, up to now, the District People's Committee has not received any specific instructions and responses. In the coming time, after receiving specific instructions and responses from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and instructions from the Provincial People's Committee, the District People's Committee will direct and coordinate with relevant agencies and units to implement according to regulations.
