Vietnamese businesses face many difficulties such as lack of understanding on how to operate e-commerce platforms, optimize user experience; logistics systems are not developed evenly.
The 2024 E-commerce Development and Connection Forum with the theme “Cross-border e-commerce: Export opportunities for Vietnamese products” will take place at the Hanoi Museum, Pham Hung Street, Nam Tu Liem District, Hanoi on November 26.
According to experts, Vietnam is one of the fastest growing e-commerce markets in Southeast Asia. A report by Google, Temasek and Bain & Company shows that in 2023, Vietnam's e-commerce market will reach a value of more than 20 billion USD and is expected to increase to 52 billion USD by 2025.
In the context of deep integration today, along with opportunities from free trade agreements, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Vietnam are shifting their traditional business to e-commerce. Therefore, cross-border e-commerce has become an important channel for exporting goods, expanding the consumption market for Vietnamese goods.
However, small, medium and micro enterprises are also facing many difficulties when participating in exporting via e-commerce, for example: many MSMEs lack understanding of how to operate e-commerce platforms and optimize user experience. The transportation and warehousing system is not developed evenly, making it difficult to meet international delivery needs. Complex regulations and tax differences between countries make cross-border business difficult.
In addition, small businesses often lack the resources to compete with large companies on price and service quality. Small, medium and micro businesses often have difficulty collecting and analyzing data to understand international markets.
Therefore, the 2024 E-commerce Development and Connection Forum with the theme “Cross-border e-commerce: Export opportunities for Vietnamese products” aims to support and provide an overview of the Vietnamese and international e-commerce market; introduce models and solutions to support MSMEs to promote online exports. The event is expected to bring effective opportunities for cross-border exports, contributing to enhancing the position of quality product brands in the context of globalization.
According to the Organizing Committee, the Forum was attended by 500 delegates from ministries, sectors and localities; representatives of international organizations (Embassies and Trade Offices of several Asian countries in Vietnam); representatives of relevant associations and unions; representatives of corporations and enterprises in Vietnam and the Asian region; domestic and international press and media agencies.
In the morning and afternoon sessions, presentations by domestic and international speakers will contribute to updating new export trends through cross-border e-commerce, the fastest way to access international markets for small and medium enterprises; Learn about bonded warehouse models, O2O (online-to-offline) models and successful strategies in markets such as China, Korea, Southeast Asia; Share practical experiences, lessons from successful and failed projects...
In addition, the Forum helps businesses learn and grasp legal regulations on cross-border e-commerce, customs procedures, taxes and legal issues in Vietnam, China, Korea, etc.; Build appropriate business plans, minimize risks by updating the latest information and trends.
On the sidelines of the forum, there are also more than 80 booths participating in the exhibition to create opportunities for trade connections, helping businesses seek business opportunities, establish long-term cooperative relationships with international suppliers, logistics partners, e-commerce platforms and businesses in the industry./.
