Plagiarism invitation letters appear again "from the Ministry to the Department" to scam students

Báo Dân tríBáo Dân trí20/12/2024

(Dan Tri) - The invitation to an international exchange sent to students of Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport is similar to the content of the invitation "above the Ministry and below the Department" that another university warned about.

On December 20, Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport issued a warning about student fraud.

Accordingly, this school received information from students about being scammed in the form of scholarship acceptance notices and requiring students to pay a fee for approval.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport confirmed that the school did not issue invitations and did not organize an international student exchange meeting on December 20, 2024 at 70 To Ky, Tan Chanh Hiep Ward, District 12 as reported in the invitation.

The school reminds students to be vigilant against fake information and fraudulent requests for money transfers. Students need to follow the school's official information channels and research and verify information as accurately and completely as possible to avoid being taken advantage of by bad guys.

The above warning from Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport was issued after a complaint about an invitation to an international student exchange meeting that claimed to be from this school.

The content of this invitation congratulates and informs students of Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport about their eligibility to enroll in the international student exchange course in Korea for students with excellent academic achievements. At the same time, invites students to meet and exchange with international students.

The above fraudulent invitation appears to be from the Ministry of Education and Training , with the Department of Education and Training stamped below, targeting students of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (Photo: TL).

Along with that, this invitation also introduces the highest scholarship level of up to 100% according to each criterion, including the content of "proof of financial ability".

Notably, the content and presentation of this fraudulent invitation letter were plagiarized from the fraudulent "upper-ministerial and lower-department" invitation letter targeting students of the University of Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University) that the school had previously warned about.

However, the "stolen" invitation letter sent to students of Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport has had some grammatical, spelling, and formatting errors corrected. The document above no longer shows the text of the Ministry of Education and Training, but the stamp below says the Department of Education and Training.
