Lam Dong suddenly inspected the school's canteen

GD&TĐ - After the incident at Trung Vuong Primary School (Xuan Huong Ward - Da Lat), Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee requested to monitor food safety at schools.

On September 20, information from the Office of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee said that Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Van Tuan had just signed document No. 3816/UBND-KGVX, directing strict control of food safety at educational institutions that organize boarding meals.

According to the Provincial People's Committee, recently, there have been complaints from parents in Xuan Huong Ward - Da Lat and some other localities that they do not let their children eat at boarding schools due to concerns about poor quality food.

Faced with this situation, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested relevant units to urgently inspect and rectify.

The Department of Health shall preside over and coordinate with the Provincial Police, Department of Industry and Trade, Department of Agriculture and Environment, Department of Education and Training and local authorities to verify information and report before September 23, 2025.

At the same time, the health sector has increased surprise inspections of school kitchens, especially large-scale establishments; provided training, disseminated knowledge and provided guidance on developing safe meal control procedures.

The provincial police are tasked with combating and handling the production and trading of dirty, smuggled, and poor-quality food. The Department of Agriculture and Environment closely monitors meat and seafood suppliers and strictly handles violators.

The Department of Education and Training directs schools to comply with regulations, coordinate with parents to supervise boarding meals and promote propaganda of food safety and hygiene knowledge.

The People's Committees of communes, wards and towns are assigned to review and rectify hygiene work in kitchens; require schools to sign contracts with reputable food suppliers with full legal documents.

Along with that, localities increase communication to raise awareness among parents and students about food poisoning prevention.

Regarding the incident at Trung Vuong Primary School (Xuan Huong Ward - Da Lat), on September 20, Principal Nguyen Thai Quynh Nga issued a notice to temporarily suspend the organization of boarding kitchens from September 22.

According to Ms. Nga, the reason is that the supplier asked to stop the food supply contract, leaving the school without an alternative source.

While looking for a new unit and completing the bidding procedure, the school asks parents to pick up students and bring them home for lunch.
