Mr. Ha Dong Giang, Ward 1, Van Du Commune, got rich from a comprehensive economic model.
After starting a family, Mr. Giang was transferred 20 hectares of land by his parents for him and his wife to develop their economy. For many years, he and his wife stayed up late and woke up early to work and produce, but life still encountered many difficulties. Through the mass media, he realized that his family's land was suitable for growing fruit trees. In 2015, he boldly borrowed capital to improve the land to grow fruit trees such as oranges, longans, guavas and build barns to raise ducks for meat. Thanks to the spirit of not being afraid of difficulties and hardships and flexibly applying scientific and technical advances in the care process, crops and livestock grew well, had high productivity, and brought a stable source of income for the family.
Not satisfied with what he had, Mr. Giang continued to borrow money from the bank to build an irrigation system and expand the area of fruit trees. Currently, his family has about 15 hectares of fruit trees, including 5 hectares of oranges, nearly 6 hectares of guava, more than 4 hectares of longan and a duck farm, each batch sells more than 10,000 ducks.
To bring high economic efficiency to the crop, Mr. Giang has applied science and technology to nearly 6 hectares of guava to produce off-season fruit. “Guava is harvested from May to August of the lunar calendar. To produce off-season guava, I have used pruning, leaf stripping, main-season fruit picking, and adding enough fertilizer so that the tree has enough energy to recover. Off-season guava is harvested from late September to February of the lunar calendar next year. The guava is sweet and sells for a good price. Previously, each sao of guava in the main season earned 15-20 million VND/sao/year, applying the technique to produce off-season guava earns 25-30 million VND/sao/year,” said Mr. Giang.
Currently, the development of the comprehensive economy has brought profits to Mr. Ha Dong Giang's family of about 500 - 600 million VND/year, creating regular jobs for 12 local workers, with an average income of 7 million VND/person/month.
Sharing his experience in economic development, Mr. Giang said: To develop production to bring about economic efficiency, first of all, one needs to be persistent and make efforts to overcome difficulties. Regularly grasp the market, choose crops and livestock suitable to local soil conditions; boldly apply science and technology to production.
Not only is he good at business, Mr. Ha Dong Giang is also a typical farmer of Van Du commune, actively contributing his efforts and money to build his hometown. In particular, he also supports seeds, planting techniques, and plant care for families in especially difficult circumstances. Thanks to his help, along with his own efforts, many households in the commune have stable incomes and have risen out of poverty.
