"The future is now," Barcelona's homepage emphasized when announcing a 6-year contract extension with 17-year-old talent Lamine Yamal on the evening of May 27 (Vietnam time), meaning the Spanish striker will be with the Nou Camp team until 2031.

"Yamal's contract extension is another testament to the solidity of Barcelona's current development project. The Barca forward made his first-team debut on April 29, 2023, at the age of 15.
Since then, the boy from Mataro near Barcelona has exploded onto the world football stage with performances that have become part of the club's history," the Nou Camp team's announcement emphasized.
According to Marca , Barcelona will pay Yamal $17 million per season before taxes. If he achieves good personal results, his salary can increase to $23 million. The Spanish player will also have the third highest income in the team, after Robert Lewandowski ($29 million) and Frenkie de Jong ($22 million).
Lamine Yamal joined the La Masia academy at the age of seven and is still only 17. He has played a major role in helping Barcelona win the treble this season, including the Spanish Super Cup, Copa del Rey and La Liga title.
The Spanish striker has made 106 first-team appearances and has set a host of impressive records in the process becoming the youngest goalscorer in La Liga, Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup history, as well as the youngest player to make 100 appearances for the Nou Camp outfit.
Yamal has made 55 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring 18 goals. The 17-year-old has also made 19 appearances for Spain, helping the Spanish side win Euro 2024.
