Garnacho yawns while signing autographs for fans. |
During a fan meeting event at a shopping mall in Malaysia on May 28, Garnacho yawned and looked tired while signing autographs for fans.
The Argentine midfielder's reaction was in contrast to his teammates who were signing autographs with him, such as Manuel Ugarte, Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo. This group of players were all happy and smiling at the fans.
Garnacho's moment immediately sparked controversy on social media. One account wrote: "MU is torturing the players. They only have 3 days to travel, practice and compete, leading to this fatigue."
Another fan spoke up: "Looking at MU playing against ASEAN All Stars, you can see they are really tired and don't have much motivation."
However, other fans have criticised Garnacho. One account commented: "Fans were eager to meet the player, and this is how Garnacho reacted. Unacceptable." Another fan said: "Garnacho is so unprofessional. Many people want their tickets back after yesterday's match. Unacceptable performance."
BBC commented that the high temperatures in Malaysia made MU players tired and not perform as expected. The site also commented that the "Red Devils" had to play 60 matches in all competitions, so being overloaded was inevitable.
In the match against ASEAN All Stars, Garnacho was brought on in the second half by coach Ruben Amorim, playing in his preferred left wing position. The Argentine midfielder had at least 2 shots on goal against ASEAN All Stars, but could not find the net.
MU are said to be ready to listen to reasonable offers to sell Garnacho this summer. The starting price set by the club is around 60 million pounds.
