This is the first time the public has had the opportunity to fully admire the precious ceramic works created by the 20th century artistic genius himself, which were privately owned and kept secret for decades.

This special collection was created by Picasso between 1947 and 1963 at the Madoura pottery workshop, located in the coastal town of Vallauris in southeastern France. This is also the place that marked the period when Picasso passionately explored ceramic materials, an unexpected direction for the great artist, after his brilliant achievements in painting and sculpture.
The works being auctioned this time were designed and decorated by Picasso with images that often appear in his painting world , such as doves, boats or fish.
This is a truly special collection. The plates, bowls, and trays here are all authentic Picasso works.

Picasso began creating his extensive ceramic collection in 1947 at the Madura ceramics workshop in France. The owners, Suzanne and George Remy, invited the artist to work in their workshop. At that time, the city had become a center for artistic ceramics.
A year earlier, in 1946, Picasso had visited an exhibition of ceramics in Vallauris and was so inspired by the local craft that he began working with the material. Ceramics became an important form of artistic expression for him after World War II.
