Jannik Sinner had a memorable Sunday at the Paris Masters, not only winning his fifth ATP Masters 1000 title but also officially returning to the number one spot in the ATP rankings.

With his usual calm demeanor and precise strokes, the 24-year-old Italian overcame a spirited Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-4, 7-6(4) in the final. It was Sinner’s first ATP Masters 1000 title in France, capping off a flawless run in which he did not drop a set. The achievement made Sinner the first player to do so since Carlos Alcaraz at Indian Wells in 2023, and extended his indoor winning streak to 26.
“It was really great. Honestly, it was a very tense final, and we both knew what to expect,” Sinner said after his 1 hour 52 minute victory.
“I am very happy. The last few months have been fantastic. We are trying to improve everything and this result makes me very happy. Another title this year. It has been a great season, whatever happens in Turin,” he added.
Not only did Sinner secure his return to world number one on Monday (November 3), he also significantly narrowed the gap with Alcaraz in the race for the year-end ATP title. He is now just 1,050 points behind Alcaraz in the ATP Live Race to Turin rankings, promising a dramatic competition at the Nitto ATP Finals, where Sinner is the defending champion.
As for Auger-Aliassime, despite losing his second ATP Masters 1000 final, the result still significantly improved his chances of qualifying for the Nitto ATP Finals. The Canadian has moved up to 8th place in the Live Race, 160 points ahead of Lorenzo Musetti, and will continue his efforts at the ATP 250 tournament in Metz next week.

Auger-Aliassime had a poor start to the final, losing the break in the first game, but Sinner turned an early advantage into the turning point of the first set. The second seed, with his impressive serving ability, did not face a break point once and went straight to a 6-4 victory.
Despite battling hard in a tense second set, Auger-Aliassime could not stop Sinner from winning the nerve-wracking tiebreak and lifting his fourth title of the season. Following his two wins over the Canadian in Cincinnati and the US Open this year, Sinner now leads 3-2 in the head-to-head between the two players.
“It was a very difficult match. He served extremely well, especially after the first break. I didn't have many chances so I had to take advantage of every small chance, and in this situation it was a very small chance. So I'm very happy with the way I handled the match,” Sinner commented on his opponent.
