Officers of the Department of People with Meritorious Services (Department of Home Affairs) received and responded to delegates' recommendations and proposals related to the implementation of policies for people with meritorious services to the revolution.

To effectively implement policies for people with meritorious services to the revolution, the Department of Meritorious Services (Department of Home Affairs) regularly coordinates with the Center for Nursing People with Meritorious Services and Social Protection of the province, organizing "Dialogue on implementing policies for people with meritorious services to the revolution" with delegates who are meritorious services, relatives of meritorious services coming to the center for concentrated care and health recovery. Through the dialogues, the Department of Home Affairs staff promptly grasped the thoughts, aspirations, and problems to promptly handle them in the process of resolving regimes and policies for beneficiaries.

The latest dialogue was held on November 3, with more than 100 delegates attending. Mr. Tran Van Tao (79 years old, 4/4 class disabled veteran in Gia Hanh commune) asked: “I am entitled to a disabled veteran allowance, and in 2021 I will receive an additional allowance for resistance fighters exposed to toxic chemicals. However, from 2022 until now, my chemical allowance has been cut off. So is it true that I am not entitled to the allowance for resistance fighters exposed to Agent Orange?”

Mr. Nguyen Dang Chinh (68 years old, 3/4 grade disabled veteran in Gia Hanh commune) asked about the procedures and process of re-assessing the disability rate.

My health has declined, and for many years now, I have requested a disability assessment to receive better policies, but it has not been resolved. What procedures should I follow?”

Each question raised by the delegates of the meritorious people was answered and guided enthusiastically and satisfactorily by the staff of the Department of Meritorious People, creating a high consensus on the policies and guidelines of the Party and State for people with meritorious services to the revolution. Mr. Nguyen Dang Chinh excitedly shared: “Participating in the dialogue, I was carefully guided by the staff of the Department of Home Affairs on the process and procedures for making a request for assessment to determine the disability rate, now I have no more questions. Hopefully in the coming time, the Department of Home Affairs will continue to promote direct dialogue with people with meritorious services on preferential regimes and policies for people with meritorious services to better serve the people”.

Up to now, Ha Tinh has confirmed and implemented policies for 303,380 meritorious people, including: 2,946 veteran revolutionary cadres, 849 pre-uprising cadres, 26,656 martyrs, 1,997 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, 35 Labor Heroes and Armed Forces Heroes in the resistance war, 37,793 war invalids, 10,129 sick soldiers, 6,700 resistance fighters infected with toxic chemicals, 663 resistance fighters imprisoned by the enemy, 172,275 people awarded with resistance medals, 43,337 families with meritorious services to the revolution. Currently, in Ha Tinh, there are more than 38,122 meritorious people receiving monthly allowances, with an annual payment budget of more than 1,500 billion VND.

Delegates learn about preferential policies and regimes for people with revolutionary contributions.

The policies and regimes for people with meritorious services have been fully and promptly implemented by Party committees, authorities and localities across the province. However, in the implementation process, there are still shortcomings. In addition, some policies and regimes, when implemented locally, are not really satisfactory, causing many difficulties and concerns for people and people with meritorious services... Therefore, organizing direct dialogues is one of the ways to effectively implement policies for people with meritorious services in the area.

According to the Department of Home Affairs, since the beginning of the year, the unit has organized nearly 30 dialogue sessions with delegates of meritorious people going for concentrated nursing care at the Center for Nursing of Meritorious People and Social Protection with more than 3,200 participants.

Through the dialogues, the entire content, policies, and procedures for resolving policies have been conveyed directly to the meritorious people in particular and the people in general. In the coming time, the Department of Home Affairs will continue to coordinate with units and localities to regularly organize dialogues to understand the thoughts and aspirations of the meritorious people; promptly coordinate with departments, branches, and sectors and direct specialized agencies to advise and propose accurately, correctly, and effectively, and resolve problems thoroughly, reasonably, and emotionally, increasingly better responding to the work of policies for meritorious people.
