Waste from "golden land" to party trays

"Waste is still widespread, from abandoned houses and land to party meals, seemingly small but actually very large," said Deputy Nguyen Anh Tri (Hanoi).

Referring to the work of practicing thrift and combating waste at the group discussion session on the morning of May 23, Deputy Nguyen Anh Tri (Hanoi) was concerned that there were still many abandoned houses, many land projects that had not been resolved and were still pending. Besides, there were other wasteful phenomena, seemingly small but extremely common.

“There is one wasteful thing that I see very few meetings mention, which is the waste in eating and drinking and parties,” said Deputy Nguyen Anh Tri, adding that many people may think this is a small, insignificant problem. But according to the Hanoi delegation, this is a very big problem. Speaking about the reality of the parties and receptions from the district to the provincial level that he has had the opportunity to attend, he found that “most of them are very wasteful.”

“There are still many trays of rice worth several hundred kilograms of rice, but many times only 50-60% of the food is eaten, and some trays of rice are only eaten 30% of the time,” said Deputy Nguyen Anh Tri. From such waste, Deputy Nguyen Anh Tri hopes that there will be a widespread and strong campaign to practice thrift in parties and receptions, and that thrift must become a way of life.

"In fighting waste, we must go further, pointing out waste right from ideas, plans, and strategies in investment and use," said Deputy Nguyen Anh Tri (Hanoi).

Delegate Nguyen Anh Tri also gave the example of two hospitals in Ha Nam , Bach Mai Hospital, Branch 2 and Viet Duc Hospital, Branch 2. When building the two hospitals, there was an opinion that they should be built at the gateway of Hanoi, so that all patients from Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, etc. would not need to go to Hanoi. However, Delegate Nguyen Anh Tri said that if a family has a sick person and seeks treatment at a higher level, in their plan, they will always choose the best last level, they will choose Hanoi instead of Ha Nam.

At the Ho Chi Minh City delegation, Deputy Nguyen Thanh Sang noted that there are many assets, especially valuable real estate and "golden lands" that are still frozen due to being involved in lawsuits. However, many cases have been tried, have verdicts, and are effective. Recovering assets and putting them on the market will help avoid huge social waste. However, according to the Deputy, it seems that relevant agencies are still hesitant and do not propose a definitive solution.

Delegate Nguyen Thanh Sang stated: “I have seen cases where there have been verdicts for the past 2-3 years but there is still no action. If the verdict is unclear, then the court should be asked to explain or an inter-sectoral meeting should be held to resolve the issue. It is a pity to just leave prime land lying there.”
