On April 29, 2025, the Provincial People's Committee issued Plan No. 126 on organizing the International Yoga Day and Indian Cultural Exchange in Lang Son in 2025. This is the first time Lang Son has coordinated to organize the International Yoga Day and Indian Cultural Exchange event. The Lang Son Provincial People's Committee aims to build the festival into an annual event to create new tourism products, attract domestic and foreign tourists, especially tourists from India, and at the same time contribute to realizing the goal of making tourism a spearhead economic sector of the province by 2030.
Large scale event
As planned, the festival will be held on May 30 and 31 in Lang Son city. Within the framework of the festival, there will be a series of activities such as: Promoting Lang Son - India tourism , "Shining Yoga" contest; performing artistic Yoga combined with traditional Indian music, exhibition space of Vietnam - India culture: traditional costumes, Henna painting, folk art; Indian film week at Dong Kinh theater; conference on promoting tourism and connecting Lang Son - India businesses...
The highlight of the festival is the opening ceremony which will take place at 8:00 a.m. on May 31, 2025. At the opening ceremony, there will be a grand Yoga performance with nearly 300 trainers and members of yoga clubs from India and Vietnam.
To ensure the success of the festival, relevant agencies and units are working with a sense of urgency and high responsibility. Mr. Nguyen Dang An, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (DOCST) said: As the standing agency advising and organizing the implementation of programs and activities within the framework of the festival, the unit has coordinated with relevant departments and branches to carry out tasks such as: developing programs, detailed scripts for the opening program; organizing and rehearsing art programs, mass performances in the opening ceremony and other contents. Currently, we are urgently completing all preparations, ready to welcome Indian delegations and domestic and foreign tourists.
In order to promote and introduce more widely the activities taking place at the festival to the public and tourists, the propaganda work has been promoted by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Specifically, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has issued press releases about the program to central and local news agencies, newspapers, radio and television. Up to now, nearly 100 news, articles and photos about the festival have been published in publications of central and local press agencies and fanpages of a number of agencies and units in the province.
In particular, up to this point, the decoration, embellishment, and construction of the stage and the area for organizing the Festival's activities have been completed by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the province with over 200 large and medium-sized billboards, 10 flag clusters and nearly 20 clusters of symbols decorated in the festival area and the main streets of the city. In addition, the Provincial Cultural Center has created promotional videos and propaganda articles about the event using loudspeakers on the main streets of the city. The Center has also actively coordinated with the professional department of the Embassy of India to prepare the opening program of the Film Festival and some related contents.
Ready for International Yoga Day
In addition to propaganda work, the related units also pay attention to promoting cultural tourism. Ms. Tran Thi Bich Hanh, Deputy Director of the Provincial Center for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion, said: We were assigned two main tasks: Organizing activities to promote Lang Son tourism - called "Meet India" and organizing a space for Vietnam - India cultural exhibition. With the first task, we have completed the content preparation and invited international delegates and delegates from the Vietnam National Tourism Administration and travel businesses inside and outside the province. With the mission of displaying and introducing culture and locality, in the past time, we have coordinated with research agencies to arrange the space for displaying Lang Son culture in the VinCom lobby area to ensure an impressive and clear reflection of the cultural identity - people of Lang Son, combining the display of tangible cultural products, OCOP products and intangible cultural performances (calligraphy, Then singing artists, Tinh lute...). In addition, we also plan to screen a video of Lang Son promoting the potential and strengths of the province, including the UNESCO Lang Son Global Geopark.
At this event, Lang Son city will become the center of the event, so all levels and sectors in the city have been actively preparing for the festival. Ms. Pham Thi Thuan, Head of the City's Department of Culture, Science and Information, said: Currently, we have been closely coordinating with related units, as well as advising the City People's Committee to direct wards and communes to mobilize the whole population to focus on environmental sanitation throughout the city, especially at relics, ready to welcome visitors. At the same time, the city has increased propaganda work on information pages, social networks, and implemented at residential area meetings. On this occasion, we also actively spread information about the Yoga Festival in combination with the response activities of the Walking Street on May 30-31.
At this time, from the reception of the Indian delegation, preparation for the opening ceremony, to the arrangement of the exhibition space, the Yoga experience area, or the preparation for the "Shine Yoga" competition and the grand performance with nearly 300 trainers and members of yoga clubs from India and Vietnam, all have been carefully prepared by relevant agencies and units, especially the indispensable role of yoga clubs in the province.
Since the beginning of May, nearly 20 yoga clubs in the area have been actively practicing to prepare for the International Yoga Day. Ms. Hoang Hong Gam, Head of Quynh Anh Yoga Club, Lang Son city said: Currently, we are practicing suitable yoga exercises to perform at typical tourist destinations of the city such as Mac Dynasty Citadel, Tam Thanh Pagoda, Thanh Pagoda. In addition, we are also preparing a special performance at the "Shine Yoga" competition. Although the weather has not been favorable in recent days, our club has still actively practiced and trained together to prepare for the festival. I saw many friends from clubs in Van Quan, Chi Lang, Loc Binh districts sometimes starting at 3 am to practice with other clubs at 5 am. We hope to interact with representatives from India, this is also an opportunity for club members to express their passion and contribute to promoting the image of Yoga to the community.
The International Yoga Festival and Indian Cultural Exchange in Lang Son is not only a simple sports and cultural event but also has profound political significance. With careful preparation and a spirit of learning, Lang Son promises to bring a brilliant success to the festival, leaving a good impression in the hearts of international friends.
