High-ranking Party and State leaders visit comrade Khamtay Siphandone

A high-ranking delegation of the Party, State, Government and National Assembly of Vietnam visited and signed the condolence book in memory of comrade Khamtay Siphandone, former Chairman of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and former President of Laos.

On the morning of April 4, a high-ranking delegation of the Party and State of Vietnam led by President Luong Cuong, a high-ranking delegation of the Government of Vietnam led by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and a high-ranking delegation of the National Assembly of Vietnam led by Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Khac Dinh visited and signed the condolence book in memory of comrade Khamtay Siphandone, former Chairman of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and former President of Laos.

Participating in the delegations were Politburo members, Party Central Committee Secretaries, Party Central Committee members, representatives of Party agencies, the National Assembly, the Government and a number of ministries, branches and socio-political organizations.

The wreaths of the delegations bore the words "Deeply mourning comrade Khamtay Siphandone".

After the funeral, President Luong Cuong was moved to write in the condolence book: "Deeply mourning comrade Khamtay Siphandone, former Chairman of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, former President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, an outstanding leader, an outstanding son of the Lao people, a loyal revolutionary soldier who sacrificed his whole life for the independence, freedom, happiness of the people and the prosperous development of Laos."

The content of the condolence book of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh reads: “The passing of comrade Khamtay Siphandone is a great loss for the Party, State and people of Laos. The leaders and people of Vietnam have lost a great friend, a close comrade who always strived for the revolutionary cause of the two brotherly countries Laos and Vietnam and the special relationship between Vietnam and Laos. Comrade Khamtay Siphandone was a senior leader, an outstanding and steadfast revolutionary who devoted his whole life to the revolutionary cause of Laos.”

The condolence book entry by Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Khac Dinh reads: “The National Assembly and people of Vietnam will always remember and appreciate the valuable contributions and great support of Comrade in laying a solid foundation, fostering and strengthening the increasingly practical and effective friendship and cooperation between the National Assembly of Vietnam and the National Assembly of Laos, contributing to promoting and deepening the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.”

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lao People's Democratic Republic to Vietnam Khamphao Ernthavanh expressed his deep emotion and on behalf of the Lao Party, State and people thanked the leaders of the Party, State, National Assembly, Government, and Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front for coming to pay their respects and write in the condolence book in memory of General Khamtay Siphandone, deeply expressing the special affection, close attachment, pure loyalty, and rarity between the two peoples.

Comrade General Khamtay Siphandone is one of the first generation core leaders of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, who led and directed the previous national democratic revolutionary cause and the cause of protecting and developing the country, and was also a pioneer in organizing and implementing the Party's comprehensive and principled renovation policy.

Throughout his life, General Khamtay Siphandone devoted his intelligence and strength to the revolutionary cause of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, to the development of the country and to the prosperous and happy life of the Lao people of all ethnic groups. He was an exemplary patriot, revolutionary and an outstanding leader of the Party and the Lao people.

As a great and close friend of the Party, State and people of Vietnam, comrade Khamtay Siphandone, together with President Ho Chi Minh, President Kaysone Phomvihane, President Souphanouvong and the leaders of the two countries, laid a solid foundation and devoted himself to cultivating the special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos into an exemplary, loyal and pure relationship rarely seen in the world, summarized in two verses of President Ho Chi Minh: "Vietnam and Laos, our two countries/Love is deeper than the waters of the Red River and the Mekong River."

On the same day, delegations from several central and local departments, ministries, branches and organizations visited and signed the condolence book in memory of comrade Khamtay Siphandone at the Lao Embassy in Vietnam, the Lao Consulate General in Da Nang City and Ho Chi Minh City.
