Former US President George W. Bush said the US had lost one of its "most distinctive and trusted voices on foreign affairs with the passing of Henry Kissinger", according to AFP. Mr Bush also said that Mr Kissinger's rise from a German refugee to the top position in US foreign policy planning showed "his greatness and the greatness of America".
Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida
Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said Mr. Kissinger "made significant contributions to peace and stability in the region, including the normalization of diplomatic relations between the US and China," according to AFP. "I would like to express my most sincere respect for the great achievements he made. I would also like to express my condolences," Mr. Kishida told reporters in Tokyo today, November 30.

Also today, the Chinese Foreign Ministry announced that Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a condolence message to US President Joe Biden on the passing of Mr. Kissinger, according to Reuters. At a press conference, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said that Mr. Kissinger was a "dear old friend" of the Chinese people and would be remembered for his sincere dedication to China-US relations.

Mr. Wang added that Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi also sent messages of condolences to Mr. Kissinger's family and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, respectively.
Previously, Chinese Ambassador to the US Xie Feng wrote on social network X: "Extremely shocked and saddened to hear of Mr. Kissinger's passing at the age of 100. I send my deepest condolences to Ms. Nancy (Mr. Kissinger's wife) and her family."
Russian President Vladimir Putin
Russian President Vladimir Putin today also expressed condolences over the passing of former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, and assessed Mr. Kissinger as a "wise and far-sighted politician," according to Reuters.

"The name of Henry Kissinger is closely associated with a pragmatic foreign policy that helped to cool down international tensions and conclude the most important agreements between the Soviet Union and the United States, contributing to strengthening global security," Putin stressed in a telegram to Nancy.
"I had the opportunity to meet this extraordinary, profound man directly many times and I will definitely keep the best memories of him," Mr. Putin said.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said today that Mr Kissinger had shaped US foreign policy as well as a number of other policies. "His commitment to the transatlantic friendship between the United States and Germany was very important and he was always close to his homeland Germany. The world has lost a great diplomat," Mr Scholz said, according to Reuters.
British Foreign Secretary David Cameron
British Foreign Secretary David Cameron wrote on social network X today that he was very saddened to learn of the death of former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, according to Reuters.
"He was a great statesman and a deeply respected diplomat who will be missed on the world stage. Even at 100, his wisdom and concern still shine through," Mr Cameron wrote.
