City leaders monitor flood and rain map

According to a quick report, from 7 p.m. on November 15 to November 17, heavy to very heavy rain occurred in Hue city. Rainfall recorded in the plains was generally from 100-200mm; in the mountainous areas from 400-550mm, some places were higher such as Binh Dien 605mm and Hong Thai (A Luoi) 612mm.

Prolonged heavy rains have caused deep flooding on many inner-city roads and low-lying areas such as Huong Tra, Hoa Chau, Phong Phu, Phong Dinh, Dan Dien, Quang Dien, Phu Xuan, Thuan Hoa... making traffic difficult. Some riverside roads have strong currents, and authorities have set up barriers and warning signs to ensure safety.

Irrigation and hydroelectric reservoirs in the area are operating safely; their capacity has reached about 80-90% of the normal water level. Reservoir management units have fully prepared operational plans according to heavy rain scenarios.

All 40 communes and wards have reviewed and updated disaster prevention and control plans according to the "4 on-site" motto, paying special attention to situations of heavy rain, flooding, landslides and flash floods.

The City Civil Defense Command is operating the 112 switchboard, ensuring smooth communication for command and response work. At the same time, it directs the IOC Center to promote the application of information technology through platforms such as Hue-S, switchboard 19001075, and smart broadcasting system, contributing to enhancing propaganda, warning, and forecasting of natural disasters to the people.

Through on-site inspection, city leaders assessed that the flood situation will continue to be complicated in the coming days. Therefore, city leaders requested sectors and localities to continue to thoroughly grasp and strictly implement the "4 on-site" motto; emphasizing the need to be proactive, flexible, and timely in handling all arising situations, in order to minimize damage.

City leaders also requested functional agencies to closely monitor the development of floods and rains; strengthen analysis and forecasting; proactively advise on reservoir operation plans, especially determining the time when floods peak, and not allowing water to rise rapidly at night, causing danger to people.
