| Frost covers trees in Y Ty. |
In the early morning of November 29, the temperature in many areas of Y Ty commune (Bat Xat district, Lao Cai province) dropped sharply from below 0°C to 3°C, causing the second frost of the season to appear.
Trees, roofs, lawns and high mountain slopes are covered with a thin layer of ice, creating a white scene typical of the highlands in winter, attracting many tourists to visit and experience on the weekend.
Earlier, on the morning of November 26, the first frost appeared in Y Ty commune. Immediately after the frost image spread on social networks, the number of visitors to Y Ty increased sharply.
According to Znews, a representative of a local resort said that the rooms were fully booked for the weekend, especially when the ice appeared earlier than usual this year. The rare natural scene and the influx of people coming to “hunt for ice” made Y Ty a prominent destination in the last days of November.
Besides attracting tourism , local authorities said they are closely monitoring weather developments to proactively respond to severe cold and minimize impacts on production and daily life.
Right from the beginning of the cold spell, Y Ty commune assigned the Economic Department to coordinate with the Fatherland Front and socio- political organizations to increase propaganda on the loudspeaker system; instructing people to cover barns, store food for cattle, and limit grazing when the temperature drops. The elderly, children and boarding students are also advised to keep warm and limit going out when not necessary.
