Domestic pepper prices continued to decrease this morning.
Domestic pepper prices continued to decline for the second consecutive day this morning. The current purchase price is commonly between 148,000 - 150,000 VND/kg.
Provinces recorded a decrease of 500 - 1,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday:
Gia Lai and Dong Nai both decreased by 500 VND/kg, respectively anchoring at 148,000 VND/kg and 148,500 VND/kg.
Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Binh Phuoc areas suffered a stronger decrease of VND 1,000/kg, bringing the price to VND 148,000/kg.
However, Dak Lak and Dak Nong still maintain the highest price in the country at 150,000 VND/kg.

Dak Lak’s agricultural sector has suffered significant damage due to recent floods, including more than 19,000 hectares of perennial crops damaged. Many key industrial crops such as coffee, durian and pepper have been deeply and prolongedly flooded.
The report of the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control said that the soil being washed away after the flood made the crops susceptible to falling. The pepper harvest is only about two months away. This natural disaster has raised great concerns in the market about the possibility of a decrease in the new pepper crop's output, despite the fact that gardeners are actively taking care to stabilize the crops.
Pepper growing areas in Vietnam have been on a continuous downward trend in recent years. After the difficult period of 2018 - 2020, many farmers have switched to growing other crops with higher profits, typically durian and coffee.
By the end of 2024, the total pepper area is estimated to be about 110,500 hectares, down nearly 30% compared to 2017. After merging the regions, Lam Dong has become the province with the largest pepper area in the country, about 36,000 hectares.
World pepper prices increased slightly in some markets.
In the international market, pepper prices fluctuate in opposite directions:
Indonesia: Lampung black pepper price increased by 0.21% to USD 7,004/ton, and Muntok white pepper increased by 0.22% to USD 9,657/ton.
Brazil: ASTA 570 black pepper price remained at USD 6,175/ton.
Malaysia: ASTA black pepper price fell sharply by 2.17% to USD 9,000/ton, and ASTA white pepper decreased by 2.44% to USD 12,000/ton.
