Domestic pepper prices on the morning of December 3 recorded the second consecutive decrease, with adjustments of 500 - 1,000 VND/kg in some key growing areas. Currently, pepper purchasing prices nationwide fluctuate between 148,000 - 150,000 VND/kg.

This development is believed to reflect the cautious sentiment of traders after a series of strong increases in the previous period, in the context of a slight increase in supply from late harvest areas.

World pepper market is divided

In contrast to the domestic trend, the international market showed a clear differentiation. According to a report from the International Pepper Community (IPC), pepper prices in Indonesia reversed to increase slightly in the latest trading session:

  • Lampung black pepper: Reached 7,004 USD/ton, up 0.21% (equivalent to 15 USD/ton).
  • Muntok white pepper: Up 0.22% to USD 9,657/ton.

Meanwhile, prices in other major producing countries remained stable. In Brazil, black pepper prices remained unchanged at $6,175 per ton. Vietnam’s black pepper export prices also remained stable at $6,500 per ton for 500g/l and $6,700 per ton for 550g/l. Vietnam’s white pepper exports remained unchanged at $9,250 per ton.

Factors affecting the supply chain

The market is paying attention to the plan of the FUCHS Group (Germany) to open a processing plant in Cambodia in 2026. This move is expected to increase the competitiveness of Cambodian pepper and may impact the supply chain in the Southeast Asia region, where Vietnam remains the largest consumer market.

Experts predict that the pepper market will continue to have slight fluctuations in the coming time, especially when consumption demand enters the peak period at the end of the year.
