Lao Cai: Many attractive activities at the Red River Festival 2025

The Festival is an event that contributes to creating momentum to promote economic growth, expand cooperation and foreign relations between Lao Cai, the Red River basin provinces of Vietnam and Yunnan province of China.

The People's Committee of Lao Cai province has just issued a Plan to organize the Red River Festival in 2025, an event connecting the provinces in the Red River basin with Yunnan (China).

The 2025 Red River Festival has the theme "Where the Red River flows into Vietnam", taking place for 7 days (from November 18-24, 2025), held in Lao Cai ward, Cam Duong ward and a number of communes and wards in the province.

The event was hosted by Lao Cai province, with the participation of provinces and cities in the Red River basin and Hong Ha district (Yunnan province, China).

About 500 guest delegates are expected, including leaders of the Party, State, ministries and international guests such as ambassadors from France, China, Denmark, India, Thailand, Laos and a delegation from Yunnan province.

The opening ceremony of the Red River Festival 2025 is scheduled to take place at 8:00 p.m. on November 19 at Cam Duong Ward Square, broadcast live on VTV and relayed in provinces and cities in the Red River region.

The opening program includes a ceremony, opening speech, art performances and low-altitude fireworks display.

Within the framework of the Festival, there will be many attractive cultural, sports and tourism activities such as: experiencing the ethnic cultural space, displaying culture and tourism of provinces and cities in the Red River basin; performing folk cultural rituals, performing ethnic arts of Lao Cai (expected to be held from November 18-24 at Kim Tan Square, Lao Cai Ward); sports exchange between Vietnamese and Chinese businessmen and youth (from November 22-23 at Lao Cai Provincial Stadium, Cam Duong Ward, Lao Cai Province); reenacting the "Old Coc Leu Market" (from November 18-24 at Coc Leu Market Area and An Duong Vuong Street Area); 25th Vietnam-China International Trade Fair (Lao Cai).

In addition, there are also response activities: "Red River Festival" Golf Tournament; "One track - Two countries" International Cycling Race Hong Ha (China) - Lao Cai (Vietnam) and Lao Cai Shan Tuyet Tea Festival 2025 with the theme "Tea scent in the clouds", promising to create unique tourism highlights during the year-end festival season.

The Red River Festival is an event of important political, diplomatic, economic and cultural significance; contributing to creating momentum to promote economic growth, expanding cooperation and foreign relations between Lao Cai, the Red River basin provinces of Vietnam and Yunnan province of China, contributing to strengthening solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and China.

The Red River Festival 2025 is not only an opportunity to promote the image of "headwater river - top mountain" of Lao Cai but also an opportunity to honor unique cultural values, making cultural history the core foundation, throughout the content of the Festival and educating the tradition of solidarity between ethnic groups, arousing love for the homeland and pride of the people, bringing inspiration, discovering interesting experiences for tourists about the cultural identity, thousand-year history of our ancestors in Lao Cai land./.
