After the success of the movie Lat mat 7: Mot giau uoc , the couple Ly Hai - Minh Ha continued to work on Lat mat 8. The couple and the crew held a casting session for actors for 4 days and attracted up to 5,000 attendees (twice as many as Lat mat 7).
With this number, Lat Mat 8 has broken the record by becoming the largest and most populous film component ever of the famous Lat Mat series.

At the casting session, besides Ly Hai and Minh Ha, there were also director Quoc Thuan, actors Tiet Cuong, Trung Dung and Ngoc Tuong.
The criteria for choosing actors for Lat mat 8 are people who can act, sing, dance, play musical instruments... The casting location attracts many participants, from professional to amateur actors from all over the country.
Due to the large number of participants, the casting session had to last until nearly 2 a.m. Ly Hai said that this was not only an opportunity for the contestants to express themselves but also opened up opportunities for all those who have talent but have not been noticed.
Besides his support, Ly Hai frankly gave his comments and criticisms to each contestant. He said that he has always chosen actors based on their suitability for the role, without any bias towards experienced artists or famous stars.
“I believe that anyone who is passionate, determined and serious about their career has the opportunity to become a movie actor,” said the director.

Besides thousands of candidates from all over, the casting also gathered faces that have made waves on social networks as well as those who have never tried their hand at film or participated in professional training.
Producer Minh Ha commented: "Cinema not only requires professionalism but also requires simplicity and acting as if not acting. We appreciate the efforts and precious time you have spent on the casting and hope that you will feel this is a playground for creativity rather than pressure to compete."
The creative performances and unexpected improvisations of the contestants also inspired Ly Hai and the entire crew.
“This is the first time in the Lat mat series that the casting lasted until 1:30 am but I still felt full of energy. Thank you all for creating a very youthful, creative, and passionate energy. Because the number of people was larger than expected, I had to select carefully and could not do it carelessly," Ly Hai shared.
Ly Hai's Lat Mat 8 will start filming in December 2024 and will be released in theaters on April 30, 2025.
