Thai Football Federation made a serious mistake about the Vietnamese flag.

(NLDO) - The drawing ceremony for the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 Futsal Championship took place with a serious mistake about the Vietnamese national flag from the Organizing Committee, causing criticism from fans.

A rare but unacceptable incident occurred during the draw for the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 Futsal Championship , when the organizers mistakenly used the Chinese flag instead of the Vietnamese flag .

The event was held on October 28th in Thailand and was livestreamed on the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) fanpage . The draw was attended by... FAT Vice President, Mr. Adisak Benjasiriwan , and Mr. Surasak Meemanee, Head of the Organizing Committee of the tournament .

The mix-up with the national flag during this solemn ceremony has caused considerable outrage among Vietnamese fans, as it is a ceremonial error that demonstrates a lack of respect for an ASEAN member nation.

At the draw for the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 Futsal Championship, seven teams participated and were divided into two groups: Group A: Thailand (seeded in Group A), Vietnam, Brunei; Group B: Indonesia (seeded in Group B), Myanmar, Malaysia, Cambodia.

Thailand and Indonesia have been seeded in their respective groups. The tournament will take place from December 23 to 29, 2025, at the Nonthaburi Provincial Arena (Thailand) .

On the VFF homepage, many fans have voiced their opposition to the tournament, demanding that participants boycott it in protest against the FAT's mistake in using the wrong Vietnamese flag. The VFF leadership is preparing to send an official letter regarding this error to the AFF and FAT.

At the same time and location, the 2025 Southeast Asian U16 Futsal Championship will also be held with the participation of 5 teams: Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Myanmar and Brunei .

The tournament uses a round-robin format, with the top two teams advancing to the final and the next two teams competing for third place.
