Ahead of the match against Vietnam U22, the head coach of the Philippines U22 team stated that the team had a good recovery and preparation period, ready for any scenario, including a penalty shootout to decide the winner.
McPherson affirmed that the Philippines U22 team will maintain its playing philosophy, focusing on developing physical strengths and limiting the Vietnamese U22 team's ability to control and execute technical plays.
Meanwhile, Philippine player Sandro Reyes believes that both teams understand each other's playing style and that the deciding factor will lie in belief in their tactical system and their fighting spirit.

Coach Garrath McPherson believes the Philippines U22 team can spring a surprise against Vietnam U22.
While acknowledging that the Vietnam U22 team is considered stronger than his own, Reyes emphasized that the Philippines U22 team has made significant progress in the past two years and is ready to compete on equal terms, aiming to make history by reaching the SEA Games final for the first time since 1991.
The semi-final match between Vietnam U22 and Philippines U22 will take place at 3:30 PM on December 15th at the Rajamangala Stadium (Bangkok, Thailand). The match will be played in a knockout format.
If the match ends in a draw after 90 minutes of regulation time, the two teams will proceed to extra time (15 minutes each). If the score remains tied, a penalty shootout will be used to determine the finalist.
