The table tennis arena at the 33rd SEA Games in Nathonburi was buzzing with excitement yesterday, filled with enthusiastic support from the fans. The Vietnamese table tennis team entered the competition with high expectations of achieving new successes.
However, the race did not go smoothly for the Vietnamese men's table tennis team. In the early afternoon, Vietnam suffered a heavy 1-3 defeat against the formidable Singapore. This means that Vietnam must now win against Indonesia to advance to the next round.
In the decisive match, Nguyen Anh Tu opened the scoring for Vietnam with a 3-1 victory over Junindra. Dinh Anh Hoang, a player the coaching staff had high hopes for, also secured a quick 3-0 win in the second match.

Difficulties arose for Coach Vu Van Trung's team when Dinh Duc lost 1-3 in the third game. In game 4, Dinh Anh Hoang faced Junindra. The Indonesian player unexpectedly took a 2-0 lead with victories of 11-9 and 11-7. Losing another set would force Vietnam into a crucial fifth game.

In the third set, Dinh Anh Hoang stepped up at the right moment, making good use of his backhand shots and finishing off his opponent with cross-court smashes. In the fourth set, Junindra took the lead. However, Anh Hoang quickly leveled the score and pulled ahead to finish the set with a score of 11-5.

In set 5, the tense back-and-forth scoring continued. On the sidelines, General Secretary Nguyen Nam Hai and the coaching staff of the Vietnamese table tennis team watched with bated breath.
It wasn't until the end of the set that Dinh Anh Hoang capitalized on his opponent's mistake to score four consecutive points, securing a 3-1 victory for Vietnam in the table tennis match. This win earned the Vietnamese table tennis team a place in the semi-finals against the top-ranked Philippines, which will take place at 1 PM on December 14th.
