April 30 and May 1 holidays: Number of tourists nationwide explodes, up more than 31% over the same period

(GLO)- The 5-day April 30 and May 1 holiday this year, along with many attractive cultural and tourism activities, has caused the tourism industry to boom. Accordingly, the whole country is estimated to serve about 10.5 million visitors, an increase of 31.2% over the same period in 2024.

According to statistics from the National Tourism Administration, the average room occupancy rate at tourist accommodation establishments reached about 70% nationwide; during the first days of the holiday, it reached over 80%, including some coastal destinations and Ho Chi Minh City reaching 90-95%.

Most key tourist destinations across the country have recorded a sharp increase in the number of visitors compared to the same period in 2024.

Thanh Hoa is estimated to welcome 1,600,000 visitors, an increase of 5.3% over the same period in 2024; total revenue from tourists is estimated at 4,170 billion VND.

Quang Ninh is estimated to welcome 1,135,000 visitors, an increase of 12% over the same period in 2024; total revenue from tourists is estimated at 3,121 billion VND.

Khanh Hoa is estimated to welcome 1,005,160 visitors, an increase of 3.63% over the same period in 2024; total revenue from tourists is estimated at 1,377.4 billion VND.

Hanoi is estimated to welcome 875,200 visitors, an increase of 18.64% over the same period in 2024; total revenue from tourists is estimated at VND 3,150 billion, an increase of 25.21%.

Ba Ria-Vung Tau is estimated to welcome 785,495 visitors, an increase of 28.24% over the same period in 2024; total revenue from tourists is estimated to reach over 650,365 billion VND, an increase of 31.54%.

Ninh Binh is estimated to welcome over 700,000 visitors, an increase of 48.9% over the same period in 2024; total revenue from tourists is estimated to reach over 1,000 billion VND, an increase of 43.9%.

Da Nang is estimated to welcome over 610,000 visitors, an increase of more than 50% over the same period in 2024; total revenue from tourists is estimated to reach over 2,426 billion VND...

During the 5 peak days (from April 27 to May 1), the Ho Chi Minh City tourism industry welcomed nearly 2 million international and domestic visitors, with total revenue reaching over VND7,130 billion. From April 20 to May 4, the total number of visitors to tourist and entertainment areas in Ho Chi Minh City is estimated at about 2.7 million, including about 355,000 international visitors, bringing in revenue of nearly VND15,707 billion for the tourism industry.

To serve the travel demand during the April 30 and May 1 holidays, Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet have increased about 20% of flights at night from 11pm to 5am to help supplement/increase the supply capacity. During the April 30 and May 1 holidays, Vietnam Airlines provided more than 610,000 seats, equivalent to more than 3,200 domestic flights, up 35% and 29% respectively over the same period last year; Vietjet provided nearly 620,000 seats, an increase of about 100,000 seats, equivalent to nearly 500 domestic flights.

The Railway sector has increased the number of trains from Hanoi to Da Nang, Dong Hoi, Hai Phong, Lao Cai and vice versa; from Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang, Nha Trang, Phan Thiet, Quy Nhon. On the occasion of April 30 and May 1, Vietnam Railways Corporation organized a pair of trains named "Reunification Train" with the desire to spread national pride, solidarity, creativity, and innovation of the country and Vietnamese enterprises.

Inland ports have increased the number of trips to Cu Lao Cham, Ly Son, Con Dao, Phu Quy, Phu Quoc islands... to serve tourists and locals during the holidays. Especially during the holidays, Quang Ninh welcomed the first group of nearly 1,700 Japanese tourists to Ha Long by super yacht.
