Vietnam U23 is the strongest team in Group C of the U23 Asian Championship qualifiers.
In the 2026 AFC U-23 Asian Cup qualifiers, the Vietnam U-23 team is in Group C along with Yemen, Singapore, and Bangladesh. Coach Kim Sang-sik's team is also the group leader. All matches in Group C will take place at Viet Tri Stadium ( Phu Tho province ) from September 3rd to 9th.

In theory, in Group C, the strongest opponent for the Vietnam U23 team is Yemen U23. This team, from West Asia, has a physical advantage over the Vietnamese players. However, due to Yemen's recent infrequent appearances in continental tournament finals, their ranking on the FIFA rankings is relatively modest (156, 43 places lower than Vietnam). Therefore, Yemen U23 is not an insurmountable obstacle for Vietnam U23.
Our two remaining opponents in Group C, U23 Singapore and U23 Bangladesh, are weak teams. Bangladeshi football has hardly made any impact internationally. Meanwhile, U23 Singapore did not have enough players to participate in the U23 Southeast Asian Championship in July, so it can be somewhat inferred that the quality of the young team from the island nation is not high.

The Vietnamese players are in excellent form.
According to the regulations of the 2026 AFC U-23 Asian Cup qualifiers, the top teams in each group will qualify directly for the finals. The second-placed teams will compete for one of the four best-performing second-placed teams in the qualifying round (there are a total of 11 qualifying groups). The Vietnam U-23 team is strong enough to finish first in Group C and secure a direct spot in the finals.

The Vietnamese U23 players are in good form and high spirits after winning the Southeast Asian U23 Championship less than a month ago. Furthermore, after the first three rounds of the V-League 2025-2026, the Vietnamese U23 players will have the opportunity to maintain this form before participating in the Asian U23 Championship qualifiers.
Following the third round of the V-League, the Vietnam U23 team is expected to gather from August 30th, giving the entire team four days to prepare for the U23 Asian Championship qualifiers. According to the schedule, Coach Kim Sang-sik's team will face Bangladesh on September 3rd, Singapore on September 6th, and then Yemen on September 9th.
After concluding their journey in the U.23 Asian Cup qualifiers, the Vietnamese U.23 players will return to their respective clubs to participate in the V-League 2025-2026. Then, around November, the entire team will gather to prepare for the 33rd SEA Games, which will take place in December in Thailand.
