On the afternoon of October 29, President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Tran Quoc Tuan and General Secretary of the VFF Nguyen Van Phu will receive a working delegation from the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) at the VFF headquarters, following the incident of incorrectly displaying the Vietnamese national flag during the draw ceremony for the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 Men's Futsal Championship.

According to the announcement from FAT, Mr. Adisak Benjasiriwan, FAT Vice President in charge of Futsal and Beach Soccer, will lead a delegation to Hanoi to directly apologize to the President and Board of Directors of VFF. The incident occurred on the afternoon of October 28 when the Chinese flag was displayed instead of the Vietnamese flag on the ticket representing the Vietnamese team during the draw ceremony.

Immediately after the incident, FAT established a Verification Committee to investigate the cause and handle the responsibilities of related individuals. At the same time, FAT President Nualphan Lamsam (Madam Pang) sent an official letter of apology to VFF and the Southeast Asian Football Federation (AFF).

In the statement, FAT emphasized: "We are fully aware of and always deeply respect all member federations, as well as the sacred meaning of each country's national flag - a symbol of national identity. FAT sincerely expresses deep regret for this mistake."

FAT expressed hope that VFF and the Vietnamese people would sympathize, accept the apology and understand that this was a "human error, with absolutely no intention of disrespect".

FAT affirmed that the incident was an important lesson, helping the unit to improve its sense of responsibility and caution in all organizational processes, in order to meet the highest standards when taking on the role of host country within the framework of activities of the Southeast Asian Football Federation.
