Linking tourism development to exploit customer markets

Top Destination Expectations

It can be said that the result of the whole province welcoming 8.35 million visitors last year (an increase of approximately 46% compared to the previous year) is due to the locality taking advantage of many favorable factors, such as: Hosting the National Tourism Year 2023 - Binh Thuan - Green Convergence, highway sections being put into operation. Especially during the peak summer tourist season of 2023, on average each month this place welcomes more than 800,000 visitors thanks to the travel time from Ho Chi Minh City to the "resort capital" being significantly shortened, only about more than 2 hours... Over the first 2 months of this year, Binh Thuan recorded nearly 1.45 million visitors (an increase of 7.3% over the same period) coming to relax in the locality, especially during the Lunar New Year holiday of Giap Thin, attracting 205,000 visitors and staying (an increase of 28% compared to last year's Tet holiday). In fact, the number of visitors choosing to stop at the southernmost coastal region of the Central region recently mostly comes from the most potential tourist market in the country, Ho Chi Minh City and some southern provinces.

After being approved by the Prime Minister, the Provincial People's Committee has recently officially held the Announcement Ceremony of Binh Thuan Provincial Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050. With many potentials and advantages, the new planning period has set the goal: Creating a breakthrough development in all aspects so that tourism becomes the spearhead economic sector of the province. Striving by 2030, Binh Thuan with the core of Mui Ne National Tourist Area will become one of the leading destinations in the Asia - Pacific region and internationally. In addition, Binh Thuan tourism also plays an important role in the tourism system of the South Central Coast tourism region and the whole country...

With the expectation of being the leading destination in the region, Binh Thuan aims to welcome 16 million visitors by 2030 (of which international visitors account for 15-20%) with tourism revenue reaching about 63,000 billion VND. In the immediate future, in 2024, the locality will strive to complete the target of welcoming 9.5 million visitors (of which international visitors account for about 320,000) with a total revenue of over 25,000 billion VND, thereby maintaining its position as one of the 9 provinces and cities with the highest tourism revenue in the country...

According to the Binh Thuan tourism development plan, in order to complete the targets of increasing the number of visitors and revenue each year, in addition to improving competitiveness to attract visitors from the southern provinces and cities, Binh Thuan must also exploit further markets. Including taking into account the formation of vertical development links (North - South) linked with the North - South national railway and the road route to maximize the strengths of sea - island tourism, sea sports, landscapes and coastal cuisine... Especially linking with Da Nang, Phu Yen, Binh Dinh, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, Ba Ria - Vung Tau to form a chain of sea tourism products including resorts, sightseeing, sea entertainment...

In the horizontal direction (East - West), priority will be given to developing tourism associated with promoting the cultural values of ethnic groups in the Central Highlands and exploiting the natural landscape, the potential of mountain and forest tourism associated with Mui Ne sea tourism. This linkage direction focuses on attracting the tourist market of the Central Highlands provinces, while accessing the markets of Lao, Thai and Cambodian tourists through international border gates in these provinces... Meanwhile, the "tourism triangle" linkage of Binh Thuan - Lam Dong - Ho Chi Minh City continues to be implemented in the direction of linking tours to connect typical products "Saigon Market - Da Lat Flowers - Phan Thiet Beach" to promote attracting visitors to visit and experience the characteristics of the 3 localities.

It is expected that by air, after Phan Thiet airport begins operation, Binh Thuan will be connected with Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, etc. to focus on exploiting potential domestic tourist markets.
