Announcing the circulation of TN01 apple variety in the South Central region

Nha Ho Institute announced the circulation of the TN01 bomb apple variety in the South Central region, creating conditions to expand the production of high-yield, good-quality apple varieties suitable for the regional climate.

Nha Ho Cotton Research and Agricultural Development Institute (Nha Ho Institute) has just completed the self-declaration procedure for the circulation of the TN01 bomb apple variety according to the instructions in Decree No. 94/2019-ND-CP of the Government, approved by the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection ( Ministry of Agriculture and Environment ) and officially allowed to develop production in the South Central Coast provinces from November 14, 2025.

TN01 apple variety when young is green, egg-shaped or pointed egg, thick and smooth skin, yellow-green; when ripe the fruit is yellow-green, firm flesh, white, crispy, light aromatic flavor. Average fruit weight is from 80 - 100 grams/fruit, large fruit can reach up to 280 grams/fruit; edible rate of fruit is about 94 - 95%, brix level above 11%. Average yield is from 46 - 55 tons/ha/crop, intensive cultivation can reach 65 tons/ha/crop.

TN01 apple variety has the ability to adapt well to the climate conditions of the South Central Coast region, has good resistance to powdery mildew, and average to good resistance to other pests and diseases.

After more than 8 years of selection and experimental planting in the South Central Coast provinces, Nha Ho Institute has determined that the TN01 apple variety is most suitable for sandy loam, riverside alluvium, needs a lot of light and enough moisture, pH from 5 - 7. This is a bomb apple variety with a strong, deep root system, so it is resistant to storms.

To help farmers quickly access the new TN01 apple variety to expand the area, Nha Ho Institute has built a parent garden and has been recognized by the former Ninh Thuan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (now the Khanh Hoa Department of Agriculture and Environment) in Decision 540/QD-SNNPTNT dated December 29, 2022.

The fact that the TN01 bomb apple variety is officially allowed to be developed and produced in the South Central provinces marks a new step forward in the research of new apple varieties by Nha Ho Institute. TN01 is an apple variety with great potential for widespread production in the near future, contributing to the diversity of apple varieties for production.

This is one of the important achievements affirming the clear orientation in the strategy of selecting and creating plant varieties in general and apple varieties in particular of Nha Ho Institute.
