The 2025 WTA Finals is the pinnacle tennis tournament that concludes the women's season. Players will compete in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from November 1 to 8.
The 8 best female singles players participating are: Aryna Sabalenka (Belarus), Iga Swiatek (Poland), Coco Gauff (USA), Amanda Anisimova (USA), Jessica Pegula (USA), Madison Keys (USA), Elena Rybakina (Kazakhstan) and Jasmine Paolini (Italy).
Aryna Sabalenka was the first to qualify for Saudi Arabia on July 7, after reaching the Wimbledon quarterfinals. With the most titles and points, she also entered the tournament as the No. 1 seed.
Iga Swiatek followed in August, after reaching the final of the Cincinnati Open. It was the Polish player's fifth consecutive appearance at the tournament, which she won in 2023.
The bold mark of American tennis
This year saw an influx of American players with four representatives: Gauff, Anisimova, Pegula and Keys. This is the first time since 2003 that four American players have qualified.
Coco Gauff, the defending champion, confirmed her fourth consecutive appearance at the age of 21.
Amanda Anisimova will be making her tournament debut after a breakthrough season in which she reached four finals and won the WTA 1000 in Qatar.
Madison Keys marked an emotional return after last participating in 2016. Her 2025 season was very sweet when she won her first Grand Slam title of her career at the age of 30 at the Australian Open.
Jessica Pegula completes the list of American players, after finishing runner-up at the 2023 tournament and winning titles on all three surfaces this year.
Coco Gauff is the current champion of the 2024 WTA Finals. The tournament has a round-robin format.
The eight players are divided into two groups of four. The top two players from each group advance to the semi-finals, where the winner of one group will face the runner-up of the other. The two winners will meet in the final.
Saudi Arabia's capital Riyadh will host the WTA Finals for three consecutive years from 2024 to 2026. The deal also sees the tournament's prize money skyrocket to $15.25 million (up 70% from 2023).
