Vietnam Logistics aims for greening and effective digital transformation

According to Mr. Tran Thanh Hai, Deputy Director of the Import-Export Department, Ministry of Industry and Trade, effective digital transformation is the lever to help logistics enterprises optimize costs, improve competitiveness and expand export markets. At the same time, enterprises that do not achieve green logistics certification will be at risk of being eliminated from the global supply chain.

The logistics service industry must promote digital transformation to increase competitiveness.

Economists say that as Vietnam increasingly asserts its role as a logistics service center in Southeast Asia, the domestic logistics industry is also facing great pressure from international integration requirements, especially in terms of sustainable development and carbon emission reduction. At the same time, the application of a series of new-generation trade agreements encourages logistics enterprises to accelerate digital transformation, integrate technology and develop in a green direction to meet international standards.

Mr. Tran Thanh Hai said that with the growth rate of export orders from 15 - 20% this year, logistics enterprises need to take advantage of opportunities to innovate technology and improve competitiveness. Effective application of digital transformation not only helps to cut costs but also improves efficiency and speed of work processing.

"Logistics is an increasingly important field in economic and social life. As the volume of goods produced, circulated and imported and exported increases sharply, the role of logistics becomes clearer. The market is open to fair competition, so digital transformation is the "key" to help Vietnamese enterprises improve their competitiveness. With limited scale and resources, digital transformation will be a practical solution to help logistics enterprises optimize their operations," Mr. Hai emphasized.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade is currently finalizing the draft Strategy for the development of Vietnam's logistics services to 2030, with a vision to 2050, to develop a sustainable, efficient and high value-added logistics industry. This is a favorable condition for businesses to promote digital transformation in the coming time.

Sharing the same view, Mr. Dao Trong Khoa, Chairman of the Vietnam Logistics Services Association (VLA), emphasized that developing green logistics is a global trend, and logistics enterprises need to actively transform to green to improve their position. Vietnam is becoming an ideal destination for the logistics industry, so it is necessary to join hands to build a green, smart and sustainable logistics industry.

To continue this orientation, the Vietnam International Logistics Exhibition (VILOG 2025) will take place from July 31 to August 2 with the theme “Digital transformation - Green development of logistics industry”. The event is expected to attract about 2,000 attendees, focusing on displaying digital solutions, automation, artificial intelligence, IoT applications and environmentally friendly means of transport, contributing to raising the level of Vietnamese logistics on the world map.
