On December 14th, following the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between the National University of Malaysia's Centre for Specialized Studies (UKMSC) and FAM, Mohd Yusoff gave an interview to the press. During the interview, he made notable statements regarding the naturalization scandal in Malaysian football.
Accordingly, Mohd Yusoff shared that FAM is accelerating the process of submitting its appeal decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). Furthermore, FAM will no longer have any issues related to FIFA.
Mr. Yusoff emphasized that CAS would be the final process the Football Association of Malaysia could use for appeal. And whatever the final decision of CAS is, all parties must abide by it.
According to Berita, the acting chairman of FAM and his associates are awaiting the full results of the naturalization scandal investigation from FAM's independent investigative committee. The full results of the investigation are expected to be released this December.
"We are still awaiting the report from Tun Raus (head of the independent inquiry committee). I hope we will also receive this report this month. Based on this report, we will consider the next steps to take," Yusoff told reporters.
Previously, facing intense criticism from the domestic public, FAM decided to establish an independent investigative committee and appointed former prominent Malaysian judge Tun Md Raus as its head.
Specifically, this committee is tasked with reinvestigating all matters related to the illegal naturalization scandal involving seven Malaysian players, which was exposed by FIFA. This same investigative committee has also set a deadline of December to identify those responsible for the naturalization scandal.
