McLaren Artura GT4 wins outright in British GT Championship

The McLaren Artura GT4 proved its worth in the GT4 race at Pulton Park with two podium finishes and a commanding podium finish in the second round of the inaugural British GT Championship on 8-10 April 2023.

Making its debut at the Daytona 24-Hour-supported IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge in the United States in early 2023, the Artuda GT4 race car performed brilliantly at Outon Park to claim the Championship title with the Optimum Motosport team.

Drivers Jack Brown and Charles Clark took turns dominating each qualifying session in the two one-hour races.

Although it did not have the advantage in the opening race against a mid-distance car, the second race of the race, which took place in wet conditions, the McLaren Artura showed its strengths.

Race Lab's Ian Gough and Tom Wrigley led the way, followed by Optimum Motosport's Brown and Clak and DTO Motosport's Josh Rowledge and new McLaren Academy rider Aston Millar to finish the race 1-2-3.

The opening weekend saw McLaren lead the way and dominate with 15 of the 36 cars from the brand. In addition, Morgan Tillbrook and Marcus Clutton from Enduro Motosport, Alex West from Garage 59 and Marvin Kirchhofer from McLaren Factory Driver also finished on the GT3 podium in their 720S GT3 race cars.

Similar to its road-going sibling, the Artura GT4 features a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine and McLaren's lightweight Carbon Fiber Architecture (MCLA) chassis.

This gives the car a super light and stiff platform to compete in GT4, and the car has been developed and tuned by McLaren Motorsport to be accessible and friendly to both amateur racers and track mechanics.
