On the morning of January 7, many users in Vietnam reported that the Messenger application (published by Meta) was malfunctioning, causing them to lose communication. Some said that this problem started the day before and only occurred on the web version. If you use the application on a computer or mobile device, you will not encounter any unusual problems.
Many exchanges took place on Messenger on the morning of January 7, but the web version only shows content from days, even weeks ago.
Mr. Tran Tu ( Hanoi ) said that on the morning of January 7, when accessing Facebook and viewing Messenger messages on his computer, almost all the chat content was displayed from many days before, only the conversation "for some reason was still updated as usual", Mr. Tu said. His web version of Messenger was missing many conversations from the same morning, however, on the phone application, this messaging software still fully displayed old and new exchanges, arranged in the correct order and received notifications of new messages.
Tran Van (Hanoi) also said that she could not download new messages from customers on her computer browser. Even when she tried clicking on some previous messages, the screen only displayed a blank box with no content, showing that the data was being downloaded but there was no change. "I posted a notice on my personal page about this situation so that my friends and customers would know, to avoid being wrongly blamed and for everyone to proactively contact me in other ways when needed," Van added.
Error report of 2 platforms Messenger ( red ) and Facebook on the morning of January 7
On the DownDetector page, both Vietnamese and international users are reporting problems related to Messenger. According to data recorded from the system, the problem seems to have started from the early morning of January 7 (Vietnam time) and has not been resolved until now.
Recently, both Facebook and Messenger have frequently encountered unstable errors during operation. The errors mostly include inaccessibility, partial damage to features such as content display, abnormalities in home page information distribution, inability to send images, messages, etc. In most incidents, Meta (the parent company of Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, etc.) often remains silent, does not proactively provide information, nor respond to content reported by users and the media.
