The number of employees being laid off by Meta has not been disclosed. According to a Meta spokesperson, the company is looking for jobs for those who have lost their jobs: “Today, several departments at Meta have made changes to ensure resources are consistent with our long-term strategic goals and location strategy. This includes moving some teams to different locations and moving some employees to different roles.”

In X, Jane Manchun Wong, a former Meta employee, said her position was compromised. Her LinkedIn profile revealed she had worked as a security engineer at Facebook’s parent company.

Meta has undergone a series of layoffs in recent years. CEO Mark Zuckerberg previously announced that the pursuit of “efficiency” would be permanent at the company, launching a “year of efficiency” in 2023.

As of March, Meta had cut 22% of its workforce since its first major round of layoffs in late 2022, when the company laid off 11,000 people. In 2023, it will lose another 10,000 jobs and cancel 5,000 job openings.

This time, employees in recruiting, design, legal, Threads, Reality Labs, Instagram, and WhatsApp lost their jobs, according to The Verge and TechCrunch .
