The North is experiencing a humid phenomenon that normally only occurs outside of Tet. Meteorological experts say that the humid phenomenon occurring in November is unusual.

The rainy, humid weather in the North gradually decreases before the cold air mass arrives.

In recent days, many localities in the North such as Hanoi , Hai Phong, Bac Ninh ... have experienced unseasonal humidity. The prolonged drizzle has made the floors always wet and slippery, causing many inconveniences to people's daily life.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, normally, the weather in the North in late autumn and early winter is mainly dry and sunny, cold at night and morning, and air humidity is often below 50%.

However, this year there has been a lot of rain, the autumn season only lasts about 2 weeks. In particular, in the last 2-3 days, there has been fog, continuous light rain, the highest temperature is about 28 degrees, while the humidity is still above 80%, causing a damp phenomenon.

According to the normal rule, dampness usually appears from late winter to early spring (around February-April of the solar calendar). However, this year the change of seasons is out of phase when cold air appears early but is weak, not strong enough to push the low pressure trough away.

Meteorological experts said that the cause of the dampness in the past few days is the impact of a cold air mass weakening and shifting to the East, combined with the Southeast wind from the sea encroaching and bringing moisture to the mainland. The appearance of dampness in November is considered quite unusual.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting predicts that today, the North, including the capital Hanoi, will remain cloudy with light rain in the morning, and from noon the clouds will decrease and there will be sunshine. From tomorrow (November 11), the rain will gradually decrease, so the humid phenomenon will also tend to decrease, and the typical dry sunshine of early winter will be more evident.

It is forecasted that around November 12-13, the cold air will weaken and weaken in the North of our country, then strengthen strongly on November 16-17. Because the cold air is dry, from November 13-19, the North will have mostly no rain, it will be cold at night and in the morning; at the same time, the phenomenon of dampness will end.

The meteorological agency said that in November 2025, cold air will continue to increase in frequency and intensity. From December, cold air will likely become more active and severe cold in the North will likely appear from the second half of December.
