Model of "Building a family of 5 yes, 3 clean": Sticking to the criteria, making a model for replication

Implementing the criteria of the model "Building a family of 5 yes, 3 clean" deployed by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union, in 2022, the Provincial Women's Union chose Nhan Thang commune (formerly Gia Binh district) as a pilot. Accordingly, the Nhan Thang Commune Women's Union chose the Women's Union of Huong Trien village as a pilot and then replicated the model throughout the commune. Ms. Nguyen Minh Ngoc, President of the Nhan Thang Commune Women's Union, said: "After the launching ceremony, members participating in the model were propagandized to raise awareness of environmental protection; instructed on how to classify waste in households and public areas. Mobilizing women to implement new rural criteria and participate in environmental protection".

The Women's Union of Phuc Hoa commune provides livelihoods to female members for economic development, contributing to helping members achieve the criteria of "5 yes, 3 clean".

Through reviewing and evaluating the results, it is shown that the criteria of the model implemented by the members have all been met and exceeded. The appearance of the homeland has many changes, the landscape and environment are green, clean, beautiful, the quality of life of women members in each family has been improved. Up to now, Nhan Thang commune has 8/15 branches effectively implementing the model "Building a family of 5 yes, 3 clean" with more than 3,200 households meeting all 8 criteria.

To replicate the model of "Building a family of 5 yes, 3 clean", the Women's Union of Nenh Ward propagates the content of the criteria, associated with building new rural areas for 100% of member households. Accordingly, the branches actively plant and take care of flower streets on many roads and public grounds; build "Green, clean, beautiful, safe" waste-free roads and maintain "Green Sunday" to join hands to protect the environment, clean up village roads and alleys. At the same time, support and connect members who need to borrow capital with the Social Policy Bank to do business, develop the economy, increase income; mobilize well-off women to help support loans, support working days to build solid houses for members in difficult circumstances...

Promote positivity

The model "Building a family of 5 yes, 3 clean" is implemented by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union in the period 2022-2027. This is the inheritance of the criteria of the campaign "Building a family of 5 no's, 3 clean's" but at a higher level to suit the new stage in order to promote the good values and potential contributions of families to the implementation of new rural construction in advanced new rural communes and model new rural areas". The model "Building a family of 5 yes's, 3 clean's" includes the criteria of "5 yes's": Having a safe house, having a sustainable livelihood, having health, having knowledge, having a cultural lifestyle and "3 clean's" including: Clean house, clean alley, clean field. In addition to ensuring the above criteria, the model also focuses on supporting knowledge, creating jobs, mobilizing members to establish cooperative groups, consuming local products, especially products produced and owned by women. The new point in the way the model is deployed and implemented is to promote the potential, proactiveness, creativity, and mutual assistance of women's union members; all levels of the union in organizing activities support activities, decentralization, delegation of authority, evaluation according to targets, output results...

The model of "Building a family of 5 haves and 3 cleans" includes the "5 haves" criteria: Having a safe house, having a sustainable livelihood, having health, having knowledge, having a cultural lifestyle and "3 cleans" including: Clean house, clean alley, clean fields.

Comrade Nguyen Phuong Mai, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Women's Union said: "To implement the model "Building a family of 5 yes, 3 clean", the Provincial Women's Union has guided women's unions at all levels to survey families that have not met the criteria and register with women's groups and branches to implement the model; directed organizations to be pilot organizations to build "Women's branches of 5 no, 3 clean", "Women's branches of 5 yes, 3 clean", organize a preliminary review to draw experience and deploy replication, build and maintain the operation of the models.

Implementing the "5 yes" criteria, from 2022 to now, women's unions at all levels in the province have mobilized support to build 330 "Warm Houses of Love" for poor women and those in difficult circumstances worth more than 12 billion VND and supported more than 27,000 working days for repairs; visited and gave gifts to poor women and children, those in especially difficult circumstances worth more than 33 billion VND; helped nearly 15,000 households escape poverty and near-poverty, more than 3,600 poor households headed by women escape poverty sustainably. Women's Unions at all levels have coordinated to appraise projects with banks, TYM Fund, "Support for Women Start-ups" capital with a total amount of more than 7,000 billion VND, helping more than 100,000 women borrow capital to develop the economy...

In implementing the "3 clean", the Women's Union at all levels launched many pilot models in localities, from which they were replicated throughout the province with 129 models of "Women's Union 5 yes, 3 clean" (22 thousand members); 96 models of "Women say no to plastic bags, disposable plastic products"; "Garbage collection and treatment team" with more than 61 thousand members; 31 models of "Clean house, beautiful garden, civilized alley"...

Since its implementation, many good models and creative methods have been implemented by women's associations at all levels in the province, gradually expanding to make environmental protection a responsibility of the whole community. With many creative methods, up to now, more than 70% of women's association member households in the province have met the criteria of "Family of 5 haves, 3 cleans" associated with the title of cultural family. Through meaningful and practical actions every day, women in Bac Ninh have been contributing to building new rural areas and urban areas that are increasingly civilized and beautiful.
