Celebrate April 30th the Gen Z way

The red flag with a yellow star is a familiar image in important anniversaries, holidays and Tet in Vietnam. The bright red flag with the five-pointed star of Vietnam, though simple, contains within it the beauty and sacred spirit of the mountains and rivers of an indomitable and resilient nation. The special thing is that the Vietnamese national flag not only has great meaning, but also has exquisite artistic beauty.

That is why, every time there are holidays such as September 2nd, Lunar New Year, April 30th, all the alleys, streets, and shops are filled with the beloved red flag with yellow star. This year, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South, the Vietnamese national flag continues to become a "symbol" connecting the young generation with the country.

The national flag of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam is red with a yellow star. The red color on the Vietnamese national flag symbolizes revolution and victory. The five-pointed yellow star symbolizes the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam . The five corners of the star symbolize the five classes participating in the revolution: scholars, farmers, workers, merchants, and soldiers, all united in the resistance.

Taking photos with the red flag with a yellow star at historical destinations has been a trend that many young people have responded to on the occasion of April 30 for many years. Young, beautiful teenagers, smiling brightly in elegant ao dai and vests, holding small, pretty red flags with yellow stars have become a familiar image on social networks in recent months. Popular "check-in" locations for April 30 include the Independence Palace (HCMC), Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum (Hanoi), Military History Museum (Hanoi),...

Currently, to serve the needs of taking photos on April 30 of the young generation, there are also services such as photoboth. This service comes up with ideas, prepares red leaves, conical hats printed with the S-shaped map, ao dai,... for people to take photos. In addition, coffee shops respond to this celebration by decorating red flags with yellow stars fluttering in the wind, creating an extremely beautiful scene.

In the last days of April, the atmosphere of celebrating the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30) is spreading throughout the streets and alleys of the capital Hanoi . Towards the 50th anniversary of National Reunification Day, many streets and residential areas have been dressed in bright colors with the national flag and the bright red Party flag, creating a decorated, bustling space filled with proud emotions. In that context, some streets in Hanoi such as Au Trieu (Hoan Kiem District), Dang Thai Than (Hoan Kiem District), Alley 193 Nam Ky Khoi Nghia (District 3) ... unexpectedly became "hot" photo spots on social networks.

One of them is the trend of expressing patriotism through T-shirts printed with the slogan "Independence - Freedom - Happiness" which is increasingly attracting customers this April. On social networks as well as in real life, it is not difficult to see images of young people wearing T-shirts printed with those "golden words" along with images of the national flag, conical hats, victory celebrations, historical sites, maps of Vietnam... with diverse styles. These are powerful symbols that move emotions and spread pride in the country's history, and have a strong connection between compatriots.

At historical sites such as Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Independence Palace, War Remnants Museum, Vietnam Military History Museum... in the days leading up to the Southern Liberation Day, many people of all ages wore T-shirts printed with the slogan "Independence - Freedom - Happiness".

In fact, using the image of the red flag with a yellow star on important holidays and anniversaries in Vietnam is not a temporary trend among young people, but has been a tradition in Vietnam since ancient times. For example, on every occasion of Lunar New Year, families hang the national flag. Or on September 2, April 30... every Vietnamese person automatically hangs a flag in front of their house, on the balcony as a habit that has been ingrained in their blood and subconscious. Currently, with love for the nation, the young generation is continuing the tradition of their ancestors by preserving, renewing and "breathing life" into the holidays and anniversaries that have historical and cultural significance in Vietnam.

April 30th "passes the torch" to today's young generation

In recent days, the image of young soldiers and officers in the parade rehearsal in Ho Chi Minh City has attracted a lot of attention. Under the 35 - 36 degree Celsius sun in the South, soldiers and police officers are urgently practicing to prepare for the parade on April 30. In order for the parade to be well-organized and perfect, the soldiers have been practicing at high intensity for many months. Being able to participate in the parade in Ho Chi Minh City is an honor and joy that the young soldiers are waiting for.

Ho Chi Minh City residents lined up early to watch the soldiers' training session.

The soldiers participating in the parade on April 30 not only have a bright appearance, but also have a spirit of readiness to serve the Fatherland and the People. Some faces that have won sympathy from the community are Nguyen Bao Chinh, currently a third-year student at the People's Police University. She belongs to the special female police parade group. During an interview, her mask fell off, revealing a radiant, fresh face. Bao Chinh, like her other colleagues, has undergone intense, serious training to prepare for the upcoming grand ceremony.

Corporal Bui Thi Phuong Ngoc, a member of the Saigon female special forces, is a notable name in the parade on April 30. The female Corporal attracted attention thanks to her impressive height, beautiful appearance and serious working attitude. It is known that Phuong Ngoc graduated from Ho Chi Minh City University of Law. Possessing an outstanding height (1m7), she participated in the Miss Vietnam 2022 contest and entered the top 15 of the Miss Ocean Vietnam 2023 contest. In 2022, Phuong Ngoc volunteered to join the army. She wants to serve in the army for a long time.

Tran Tat Long (24 years old), a soldier participating in the parade celebrating the 30/4 anniversary in Ho Chi Minh City, quickly attracted attention thanks to an interesting video recording a scene of him during a break during a training session. Many young people searched for his information and admired him for his strong, sturdy appearance as a soldier. He is working at Division 361, Air Defense - Air Force (Hanoi). During the parade celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day, he participated in the air defense - air force officer group.

Through the images recorded during the parade rehearsals in Ho Chi Minh City, we can see a young generation - the future of the country - joining hands to preserve and protect the heroic historical traditions of the Vietnamese people. For example, in the pouring rain, many young people came to cheer on the soldiers during the rehearsal.

Or it is the radiant beauty, full of inner strength and hope of the young soldiers that shows that, no matter what era, Vietnamese children are ready to join the army and sacrifice their blood and bones for their country and people. The care and attention of young people for the soldiers attending the training session to prepare for April 30 in Ho Chi Minh City shows that the emotional connection between the army and the people in each generation has been and continues to be closely connected. No matter how life and society develop, in the hearts and minds of young people in Vietnam, there is still a beautiful image of the soldier who protected the Fatherland.

Finally, although 50 years have passed, the victory of April 30, 1975 and the heroic atmosphere of those years still remain, constantly boiling and "passing fire" to today's young generation. The imprint of the day of national reunification that year has become the motivation for the young generation of Vietnam to constantly strive, study, practice and contribute to be worthy of the noble sacrifice of the previous generation.

Although the parade officially took place on April 30, people in Ho Chi Minh City had already flocked to the center to choose a place to watch the parade practice. Specifically, from early afternoon on April 22, a large number of people flocked to the central area, taking advantage of the opportunity to "hunt" for themselves a good position to watch this special parade practice.
