On the afternoon of July 23, the media meeting event for the film project "Red Rain" took place in Hanoi .
“Red Rain” is a feature film about the revolutionary war, written by writer Chu Lai, inspired and fictionalized from the 81 days and nights of heroic and resilient fighting to protect Quang Tri Citadel in 1972.
At the meeting, veteran Nguyen Van Hoi - Head of the Liaison Committee of Battalion K3 Tam Dao cried when watching a film excerpt. He tearfully talked about missing his comrades and was overwhelmed with emotion when seeing the footage recreating the fierce battle in Quang Tri.
"The soldiers were only 18 or 20 years old, most of them had never been in love. When they died, they painfully called out for their mothers and sisters. I was lucky to survive, but so many of my comrades remained in that land," Mr. Nguyen Van Hoi shared.
Director, Meritorious Artist Dang Thai Huyen also mentioned the scene where the soldiers called out "Mom". "When I read the script for Red Rain written by writer Chu Lai, I was especially impressed with the scene where the soldiers who died on the Thach Han River called out "Mom" because they were so young. I cried a lot when I read that scene," the director confided.
During filming in Quang Tri, the crew made the work not only as a film but also as a tribute to the heroes who fell for national independence.
While filming in Quang Tri, the weather was harsh, cold at night, hot during the day and raining continuously, but the entire crew and the coordinating military agencies were not discouraged and determined to make the film.
At the event, Colonel Dao Van Phe - Deputy Head of the Liaison Committee of Battalion K3 Tam Dao and Major, Hero of the People's Armed Forces Tran Trong Can also shared their memories of the ancient citadel of Quang Tri, which witnessed the sacrifice of tens of thousands of soldiers in their twenties.
From true stories of historical witnesses, writer Chu Lai completed the script "Red Rain" and together with the People's Army Cinema realized this project.
Writer Chu Lai revealed that he wrote the script for "Red Rain" 10 years ago, with many aspirations to make a movie about Quang Tri ancient citadel. After that, a strong team worked hard for many months to complete the project, in time for release on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of National Day, September 2.
However, writer Chu Lai said: "Movies, novels or epic poems cannot fully portray the spirit of Quang Tri and this film is just a slice of history that the nation has experienced."
Production director Kieu Thanh Thuy was also moved: “We have put all our efforts into recreating the fierce yet emotional battlefield atmosphere. This is a film that requires a very high commitment from the entire crew, not only in terms of technique, but also in terms of emotion and responsibility to history.”
The cast of the film includes both veteran artists and young faces such as People's Artist Tran Luc, Meritorious Artist Trong Hai, actors Dinh Thuy Ha, Hua Vi Van, Do Nhat Hoang, Ha Anh, Steven Nguyen, Phuong Nam, Lam Thanh Nha, Dinh Khang, Hoang Long, Nguyen Hung, Tran Gia Huy, Luong Gia Huy, Minh Thuan...
