Currently, the university has a training scale of over 10,000 full-time students. The university is oriented towards focusing on key areas such as tourism, languages, information technology, and economics . The faculty, including 4 associate professors and 40 PhDs, is a crucial force in ensuring the quality of training and scientific research at the university.
Research and development, technology transfer, and innovative entrepreneurship have also been promoted, making a significant contribution to the formation of a scientific and technological workforce ecosystem for the province.
During the period 2020-2025, the school has been implementing numerous scientific research projects at various levels: 1 national-level project, 7 provincial-level projects, 4 departmental-level projects, and 18 projects commissioned by businesses. The research results not only serve to improve teaching capacity but also meet the practical needs of the province's socio-economic development. Among these, 4 technology models have been successfully transferred and applied in practice.
The school has compiled and edited over 300 teaching materials, books, and textbooks; conducted research and evaluated and recognized the results of over 300 scientific tasks of lecturers, and over 100 student research projects (many outstanding projects have been submitted for and won awards in the Ministry-level student research competition).
In addition, the faculty and staff of the University have published nearly 1,000 scientific articles, including nearly 100 articles in the WoS/Scopus system, and have published 18 issues of the Ha Long University Journal of Science, which has been recognized by the State Council of Professors and counted towards the ranking for 8 disciplines/interdisciplinary fields from 2024.
Beyond its focus on research, the university is also a leader in promoting entrepreneurship and innovation. In 2024, the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center was officially established, becoming a breeding ground and connector for the startup ecosystem, with more than 20 partner businesses.
The university has also actively expanded international cooperation, participating in four research projects within the framework of cooperation with the European Union and Germany, thereby creating opportunities for staff, lecturers, and students to access advanced knowledge and technology.
In particular, in 2024 and 2025, within the framework of the REVFIN international cooperation project, the school sent 4 staff members and 6 students to participate in training programs on recycling technology for fishing gear waste and communication work to raise public awareness about environmental resources at the University of Ostfalia, Germany. Many of the school's lecturers are pursuing master's and doctoral degrees at foreign universities.

The school also collaborates with the Department of Science and Technology to organize training and disseminate knowledge on productivity and product quality to staff, lecturers, and students. In 2024, it participated in a training conference on building and protecting trademarks in Vietnam and some key export markets, organized by the Foreign Trade University, Quang Ninh campus, in coordination with the Intellectual Property Office, Ministry of Science and Technology .
Associate Professor Pham Quy Giang, Head of the International Cooperation and Science Management Department at Ha Long University, stated: "We sincerely hope that in the future, the province will continue to focus on investing in the university to become a key training and scientific research center in the Northeast region, with capabilities on par with major universities nationwide. At the same time, we hope for a more open mechanism for international cooperation so that the university can attract more international experts to teach, train, exchange academic knowledge, transfer technology, and participate in joint research projects."
Promoting cooperation with FDI enterprises and large technology corporations inside and outside the province also needs to be strengthened to form a research-training-innovation ecosystem, contributing to providing highly qualified science and technology human resources to serve Quang Ninh's key economic sectors.

As a training, research, and knowledge-connecting center for the province, Ha Long University has become a key institution in training high-quality human resources, attracting and nurturing talent, and serving as a bridge for international cooperation, integrating Quang Ninh deeply into the global knowledge network.
