The US announces new sanctions against Russia and provides additional aid to Ukraine.

Sanctions from the US Treasury and State Departments have affected nearly 400 individuals and organizations inside and outside Russia.

The U.S. Treasury Department said "this move also targets Russian fintech companies that provide software and IT solutions essential to the Russian financial industry."

At the same time, the US State Department said it "is targeting entities and individuals involved in Russia's future energy, metals, and mining production and export activities."

In a move demonstrating support for Ukraine, President Joe Biden also announced a new aid package on August 22nd that includes anti-aircraft missiles and anti-drone equipment.

In addition to air defense equipment, the aid package also includes anti-tank missiles and ammunition.
