On the afternoon of July 20, immediately after receiving a warning about the possibility of direct impact of storm No. 3 on the Northern region, My Duc commune quickly established two inspection teams to inspect the scene, focusing on reviewing key points.

Team No. 1, led by Chairman of the People's Committee of the commune Nguyen Quang Duong, directly inspected the dykes at risk of landslides in Hop Thanh and An Phu areas. These are locations adjacent to residential areas, with steep terrain, and were affected by the storm on the afternoon of July 19, causing many trees to fall and the ground to weaken significantly.

At the scene, the delegation requested the militia and commune police to coordinate with village officials to erect barriers, put up warning signs, clear the view, quickly fix fallen trees, and ensure people's safety when heavy rain and strong winds occur.

At the same time, inspection team No. 2 led by Vice Chairman of My Duc Commune People's Committee Le Van Doan focused on inspecting the drainage system in Phu Luu Te, Dai Hung and Dai Nghia areas, where the main drainage pumping stations are located. In particular, in Ha Hill area, Ha Xa village, an area with complex terrain, steep slopes and many houses at the foot of the hill, the team recorded local landslides and requested forces to closely monitor and promptly handle any unusual signs.

Putting people's safety first

Through on-site inspection, My Duc commune leaders assessed that although the landslide situation at some points was not serious, it was necessary to proactively deploy preventive measures early, not to be passive. The delegations requested specialized departments to quickly consolidate weak points and complete the inspection of the drainage system before heavy rains occurred.

"There must not be any negligence in the preparation work, even the smallest one," comrade Nguyen Quang Duong emphasized at the inspection session.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of My Duc commune also requested that each village and residential group proactively review households in low-lying areas and update the list of those needing evacuation support when necessary.

In addition, the commune also recommends that people reinforce their roofs, check the electrical system and trees around their residential areas; at the same time, urgently handle advertising signs at risk of falling. Organizations such as the Youth Union, Veterans Association, Women's Association, etc. are mobilized to support people and coordinate with local forces.

"The consistent motto of the commune is not to be negligent or subjective, to respond to natural disasters in accordance with the spirit of 'four on-the-spot' to ensure the safety of people and property," affirmed the Chairman of the People's Committee of My Duc commune.
