This can be seen through the great achievements that Hanoi has achieved such as: Ready 5G infrastructure with 12,000 BTS stations, and fiber optic cable to 100% of households; iHanoi has 1.1 million accounts; 5.4 million health records have been connected to the national database, and the hospital system and traffic tickets are being deployed.
Along with Hanoi, other localities have also recorded many great strides in building smart cities. 48/63 provinces and cities are implementing smart urban development projects, more than 50 localities have implemented provincial IOCs and nearly 200 district IOCs.
Not only that, the cities have completed basic infrastructure such as data, transmission and solutions. Most cities build smart applications to serve people and businesses. As of December 2023, the country has 902 cities with an urbanization rate of about 42.7%. The urbanization rate is on par with Asia.
However, according to Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa, the problem is how to find new development drivers in the constant fluctuations of politics, economics, and technology. And only digital economy, green economy and technology can be the answer. We need to focus on promoting digital transformation of traditional economic sectors, creating sustainable development towards the environment and culture. In addition, we need to focus on industries that Vietnam is having great attraction such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), automotive, ...
Mr. Nguyen Viet Hung, Director of the Hanoi Department of Information and Communications, said that the city is in the process of detailing specific tasks to be implemented through the Project "Building a smart Hanoi city by 2025, with a vision to 2030".
Accordingly, Hanoi will have a clear goal and vision for the harmonious development of the capital, in the direction of "Cultural - Civilized - Green - Smart - Modern" to firmly enter the new era, the era of national development. Quickly complete policy mechanisms, combine planning, regulations and standards in building a sustainable smart city. Build a transparent and effective digital government platform and a smart urban information infrastructure platform. Along with that, strengthen training and recruit enough necessary, high-quality human resources.
According to Mr. Nguyen Viet Hung, in the process of building a smart city, Hanoi will prioritize issues such as urban traffic, conservation and development of heritage, culture, tourism and protection of water and air environment. To address these priorities, the Project "Building a smart Hanoi by 2025, with a vision to 2030" will propose key solutions for each industry and field.
At the Conference, experts and businesses shared about smart city development such as: the current status of smart city development in Vietnam and criteria for evaluating sustainable smart cities; AI application and big data mining for smart city development; AI and big data: strategic foundation for smart cities, digital economy and sustainable development... In addition, there are experiences from Ho Chi Minh City or Malaysia in building smart cities, promoting digital economy and sustainable development.
