After a 1-1 draw against Da Nang, Nam Dinh went through a series of 6 consecutive matches without a win in all competitions. In V.League 2025-2026, Nam Dinh lost 3 matches and drew 2 matches, thereby falling to 8th place on the rankings.

In the match on the evening of October 27, after Nam Dinh conceded a goal, the television camera caught Xuan Son feeling sad in the stands. He wanted to return to help the team overcome the difficult period.
On his personal page, striker Nguyen Xuan Son shared an emotional status: "We will come back stronger, I promise. Thank you to the sincere fans who have always supported us. We still have a long way to go, we are the blue warriors and we will always fight." Xuan Son was once the main striker who contributed greatly to Nam Dinh's championship for two consecutive seasons. Xuan Son's absence in recent times has somewhat caused the team from Thanh Nam to lose an important spark.
This season, Nam Dinh is investing in personnel for both the international arenas of AFC Champions League Two and the Southeast Asian Cup C1. However, there are times when Nam Dinh still faces difficulties in terms of personnel. Most recently, Nam Dinh was without many key players in the match against Da Nang in round 8 of V.League 2025-2026 due to illness and injury. Nam Dinh changed coaches after a series of bad matches. Coach Vu Hong Viet could not wait for Xuan Son to return.
Xuan Son has been away from the pitch since the final match of the ASEAN Cup 2024 with the Vietnam national team. It is expected that Nam Dinh club will put Xuan Son back on the list of players registered to compete in the second leg of the V.League 2025-2026. However, the coaching staff plans to only use him at certain times to ensure that the process of recovering his physical strength and feeling of the ball takes place safely and sustainably.
Most recently, in a friendly match with PVF-CAND on October 11, Xuan Son officially returned to the field after 10 months of injury. He was brought on the field for the last 15 minutes, marking an important turning point in his arduous recovery journey.
Besides, the Vietnamese team is also waiting for Xuan Son's return for the training camp in early 2026. That is the time when we will play the decisive match with Malaysia to compete for a ticket to the 2027 Asian Cup Finals.
In October, midfielder Do Hoang Hen officially received the decision to become a Vietnamese citizen. Do Hoang Hen signed his first professional contract in Vietnam on January 12, 2021, with Binh Dinh club. After this milestone, exactly 5 years according to FIFA regulations for naturalized foreign players, Do Hoang Hen is eligible to play for the Vietnam national team. He will be a good teammate of Xuan Son if both of them are on the Vietnam national team. Xuan Son - Hoang Hen once created a very good pair in V.League, especially in the 2023-2024 season in Nam Dinh's shirt. The rise of this duo is a major factor contributing to Nam Dinh Blue Steel winning the championship.
According to Transfermarkt statistics, Xuan Son and Hoang Hen played together in 62 official matches. This duo showed great understanding when in addition to scoring, each had 11 assists for their teammates to score. Nam Dinh is living in the memory of Xuan Son. And this striker himself is also eager to return to the field. Everyone will wait for his return in the second leg with explosions.
