Promote roles and responsibilities
According to the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions, from 2011 to present, the Government has issued many policies for prestigious people in ethnic minority areas in accordance with each specific development stage of the country. Since then, the team of village elders and prestigious people have also promoted an active role in all areas of life and society; made many practical contributions to patriotic emulation movements, economic development, hunger eradication and poverty reduction as well as preserving customs and practices, promoting the fine cultural identity of ethnic groups. In particular, the team of village elders and prestigious people have actively contributed to the implementation of the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas, which has been vigorously implemented in recent years.
However, along with the continuous development and innovation of social life, it is required that those working in the field of prestigious people should promote their pioneering and exemplary role in advocacy and propaganda work; proactively coordinate with local authorities to participate in resolving conflicts among the people. In fact, at the meetings with voters of National Assembly and People's Council deputies at all levels, prestigious people have also had many opinions reflecting the thoughts and aspirations of ethnic minorities towards the Party and the State. These opinions have made practical contributions to socio-economic development programs, national security and defense in localities. On the other hand, as the center of national solidarity, the team of village elders and prestigious people have actively mobilized people to respond to patriotic emulation movements, production labor, economic development; coordinated with the police and mass organizations in grassroots reconciliation work in localities. Prestigious people are also the main force in preserving and promoting cultural identity values, creating solidarity in the ethnic community.
