Enhancing the role and effectiveness of the Tien Giang Provincial Journalists Association

The delegation of the Vietnam Journalists Association had a working session with Tien Giang province on improving the role, quality and effectiveness of the provincial Journalists Association's activities.

On October 25, the delegation of the Vietnam Journalists Association led by the Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association Nguyen Duc Loi had a working session with Tien Giang province on improving the role, quality and effectiveness of the provincial Journalists Association. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Dieu, Vice Chairman of the Tien Giang Provincial People's Committee received and worked with the delegation.

At the meeting, the delegation of the Vietnam Journalists Association heard information about the press activities in Tien Giang province. Currently, Tien Giang province has 2 press agencies and 2 magazines. In the province, there are 3 press agency representative offices, 24 press agencies, 13 magazines outside the province introducing resident reporters and reporters working in the province.

In recent times, press agencies, representative offices, and resident reporters in the province have actively accompanied the province in participating in information and propaganda to promote economic , cultural, and social development, and maintain national defense and security.

Mr. Van Cong Hung, Chairman of Tien Giang Journalists Association, said that after 3 years of implementing the Resolution of the Vietnam Journalists Association Congress, the Resolution of the Tien Giang Journalists Association Congress, term 2020-2025, the Provincial Journalists Association has always fulfilled its assigned tasks, and the activities of all levels of the Tien Giang Journalists Association continue to make remarkable contributions to improving the quality of the Association's activities and the province's press activities.

The Association and press agencies in the province always pay attention to protecting the legitimate rights and interests of members - reporters, no case of disciplinary violations must be handled; all levels and sectors always create favorable conditions for the Association and press agencies to operate.

Regarding the implementation of Directive 43-CT/TW dated April 8, 2020 of the Central Party Secretariat "On strengthening the Party's leadership over the activities of the Vietnam Journalists Association in the new situation", the Chairman of the Tien Giang Journalists Association informed that in recent years, with the attention, leadership and favorable conditions of the Vietnam Journalists Association, the Provincial Party Committee, the People's Committee of Tien Giang province and related departments, the Provincial Journalists Association has had many practical activities, effectively contributing to the general movement of the Vietnam Journalists Association and the provincial press activities.

“Despite limited budget, the Provincial Journalists Association has made many efforts to organize field trips to exchange experiences in journalism and Association activities in several provinces; exchange and discuss journalism skills and Association activities with some Association delegations and other newspapers and radio stations coming to Tien Giang,” Mr. Van Cong Hung shared.

Along with that, in recent years, Tien Giang Journalists Association has successfully organized the provincial Press Award - Nguyen Van Huong Award; participated in organizing the press award on Party building - Golden Hammer and Sickle Award, along with creative campaigns on the theme "Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology and style", attracting a large number of journalists, researchers and readers to participate...

At the meeting, members of the delegation of the Journalists Association and leaders of Tien Giang province discussed issues related to digital transformation; development, training and fostering of human resources; building economic and technical standards in journalism activities; directing, managing and rectifying the activities of newspapers, magazines, electronic information pages and social networks; supporting high-quality journalism...

Attending the meeting, Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association in charge of the South, Tran Trong Dung, expressed his joy when the Tien Giang Journalists Association received enthusiastic support from the provincial leaders. Mr. Dung highly appreciated the professional qualities and ethics of the Tien Giang provincial press team. In particular, Ap Bac Newspaper is one of the agencies with strong potential in the region.

“Regarding digital transformation, the province needs to closely cooperate with the Press Digital Transformation Support Center. Based on the survey of resources and facilities, the Press Digital Transformation Support Center will provide guidance and support for Tien Giang province to realize the newly issued digital transformation strategy,” Mr. Tran Trong Dung directed.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of Tien Giang Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Dieu expressed his gratitude to the delegation of the Vietnam Journalists Association. Mr. Dieu assessed that the press management and activities of the Provincial Journalists Association have had many innovations and effectiveness, contributing positively to the overall development of Tien Giang province.

“Information from the press is one of the important channels for Party committees, authorities, and functional agencies to effectively carry out leadership, administration, state management, inspection, supervision, and implementation of Party discipline... In foreign information work, the press has actively contributed to promoting the image of Tien Giang to localities in the country and to the world,” said Mr. Nguyen Thanh Dieu.

In the coming time, the Vice Chairman of Tien Giang Provincial People's Committee said that he will work with the Vietnam Journalists Association to find the best solutions to develop local journalism.
